When fighting the bloodmoon do you have 2 separate bases?
1 horde base and 1 regular base?
Or do you have just 1 base?
Or take over a POI for your horde base?

Just to get it out of the way:
Whaddya mean "base"? .. :)
Couple Mega Crushes, a known fence, a sledge.

But more for reals, all of the above .. usually the choice of a "base type" is more of a defining feature of a playthrough, part of the "primary rules", not an outcome. Only if restrained to something like "20 min days, horde every night", will one be somewhat pushed into repurposing the nearest POIs.

I use and build combined bases.

Sometimes early game, a POI will do until resources are gathered and the final location is scouted.

sooo no real base then? You technically could call a fence and your sledge a base right?! 🤣 It's more if you use your crafting/storage base with all of your workbenches together with the horde base to fight the bloodmoon horde.

Heh, sure; but you don't really Need either, either. They're just there if you want to kill a few, safely ;)

Maybe I could add that if I don't decide on a base type in advance, I usually have another type of challenge going; on those I tend towards having both in the same base. It is very rare for a horde base to fail on me in any way, and even then the risk to attached stuff is minimal - zeds aren't going after our stuff, I'm dead before anything important breaks ... hmm, that might be a little dark ...

:D

... though some may say "recklessly and ill-prepared" is a more appropriate label for my strategies
some may also say I should've taken the hint when all of the radio tower above my head crumbled on the first blood moon when I removed one of my own blocks, but I take hints like I make good decisions: rarely

... for totally unrelated reasons, though, I keep my "living" and "dying" blood moon bases separate. I'd felt my self-made horde bases getting samey, so lately I've been using POIs or bits of POIs to keep it, uh... "interesting".

"Interesting" here also including two-hour days and 16 daylight hours making 40-minute blood moons with modded-for-more zombies because "I choose to live-" see above "-dangerously"

I almost always use separate bases. I like my main base to look nice, and don't want to build it for defense. That is true whether I use a POI or build my bases from scratch.

I've done it all. I like using a POI for my main bas, and if i can find a POI near it that has good bones I'll turn it into a Hoard Base. A lot of my hoard bases started following the elevated path to me plan, so i am trying to do things a little differently. Currently i have a monkey bar path up to me, and a section where i can go onto the ground floor and smack Zombies in the face. I also have 4 turrents in that section, so i can turn it on when i need a breather.
In 1 playthrough we built a massive castle that we defended from Zambs, an in another I hollowed out a mountain lol. Lots of different options are available.

I have not built a horde base in years, once i got into the habit of emergency renovating a nearby poi i never looked back.
I cant stand mining through so that probably influences my decision making.

Right now, I cannot play at all, but once I get caught up on sleep and medical issues, I'll get back to playing a bit.

I always try to build a crafting base on day 2 at the latest, otherwise day one if I can.

Horde night base is much less of a hassle by day 5-7, and after that, i can add onto it if I want, but I usually just build a farming base to round out my base construction.

Once I get back on my feet, come July, I'll be playing like a madman, and making up for lost time, but I'll have to have at least 1 more surgery, followed by 2 weeks of living in an assisted living situation before that, if all goes well.

I used to make all sorts of crafting bases, but lately just sticking to the pine forest the whole game.

First game I did combined, every game since has been separate. Sometimes use a poi for first few hordes sometimes build. Though I turned off horde night on my last game and might not go back.

Early game, separate (my crafting base usually being the second floor or roof of a poi of at least cobble.)

Mid-to-late game, combined.

Though my current playthrough, I've turned horde night off and I've been having a lot of fun just running through new POIs (I added a POI pack) and actually doing tier 5/6 quests (honestly can say I pretty much hate all of the T5 POIs now, though. Clown Car zombies are not fun.)

Yes, don´t ■■■■ where you eat. Not gonna risk all my stuff going lost because the game deceides to glitch a zombie trough a wall or a different bug happening.

Also for aesthetic reasons.
