Yea I'm really diggin the Tracker perk. I can see me using it early game for every new playthrough to gather meat. Used it at Bob's Boars and Carl's Corn. Worked like a champ.

Just as a note, I saw 2 deer on night one without the tracker. So they definitely do show up. But unless you are looking in the right directions, they are easy to miss.
I like how the Tracker is color coded showing green for non-threatening animals and red for hostile animals. The real time motion of the animals on your hud and map is pretty cool. Use to think it was a useless perk. I like it.
