PS4 controller issues

Hey all. Been playing for years no issues. Took a hiatus. Trying to start a new game and both my spouse and I are having the same issue. When connected via Bluetooth, as soon as the game loads, our DualShock 4 controllers make  our characters look to the sky and only left and right camera work. Both of us can not look up or down. It’s the same on the menu before launching. Left and right but no up and down. If we plug them in wired, we don’t have the issue. Only via Bluetooth. I hope someone can help.

 
Make sure you don't have any other controller software like DS4 running. It will cause problems like this.

 
Happened to us. Make sure your steam settings are enabled for controller. I found that I had to change the settings to a xbox controller then back to ds4 and the issue stopped.

 
The virtual cursor is faster and more efficient for UI navigation than highlighted boxes.  Also, some things cannot be selected, like Rule 1: Cardio, with this new method.

The previous D-pad functions were better for tool belt selection (slots 1, 2 & 3) and crafting/inventory options.  Having to hold Y and D-pad is inconvenient.
