PC Powered Vault Door and pressing E

I am sure people who used it know what i am talking about. If you get your first powered door it happens a lot that you press E to open it. And that results in picking it up.

Can we please have a solution for that? Like with everything else we pick up? The need hold down E and choose picking up. Yes i know there is no second option, but it would be really handy.

 
I don't exactly see that as an issue, a decent fix wouldn't bother me of course. Better yet, add a default of "bypass open" => pressing E opens the door for 1-5 seconds.

But for now, if if really annoys you, maybe punch it once after you install it => pressing E should just pop up a warning "You'll need to fix that first". Silly workaround for a silly problem :)

 
Yes we did punch it. It really bothers me because it shows how big the lack of testing is when things are implemented in the game. If you test this properly you would see that this is a small but still annoying issue. That could easily be fixed before releasing it to the public. It´s not like they would need to invent a whole new mechanic. It´s already there at other items in the game.

 
Heh, I think I'm getting defensive for TFP here.. :) I assume it's mostly a "polish" level issue, they'll do something about it before gold. It may also be that the roadmap for that block already has the solution, we're just not there yet- IF they're planning for instance to add some kind of a "manual open" later on, there's not much point in implementing some "confirm dialog" for now, since there would be a good default option. (The wheel exists, yes, but not for single action items.. depending on everything else, it might not trivial enough to warrant "hacking for now")

But to be fair, I have no idea about the plans and at the moment the issue is legit .. :)

 
And we both missed the easiest fix: Make the time longer to pick it up so you can cancel it with escape if you press E by accident. I am wondering why it is so short, everything else takes ages to pick up but not the one item with the highest chance of picking it up on accident. I am starting to think this is on purpose...
