Please Make the Zed HP Bar Optional. I beg you

Please, as A-17 draws nearer, 90% of what you are showing looks fun and awesome, but please I beg, plead, implore you pimps.

Make sure there is an option to NOT have zombie health bars. For players such as myself it will ruin the game. I don't want to know if they are dead. I love the danger aspect that has always been where a downed zed is still a potential risk as long as the head is still on the body. It makes me have to be careful, be aware, it also gives me cause to keep going for critical shots.

You see a zed with an HP bar, when it is near death you know you don't have to worry about precision, you know that you could kick it in the nuts to kill it. While many would enjoy this kind of gameplay, I would not. And I can only assume I am not the only one with this kind of mentality. I do not begrudge the hp bar to anyone, just give me the option in the base game to NOT have it.

It will be very easy to mod out by adjusting the UI xml's.

Guaranteed that within a day of release there will be more than one mod you can download that will do this.

Personally, I would like to be able to make it so that it is only an option on the special Z's. Normal z's don't need it, but the ammo sponges may.

I am sure you are right, but I am making this request of the pimps as a request for the BASE game, not something to require a modder to do.

They so far have been amazing in letting you customize settings, this is just one more I want to see them put in that catagory.

Hello SylenThunder.

Yes,exactly. Only the special infected super bullet sponges would really need that option. Basically the irradiated monsters since they appear to have some sort of regeneration that make them look like undying.

Dude it's already extremely easy to tell when they're dead. Pay attention to the falling animations. The health bars aren't going to fix/change that, they're just going to let you know how fast Irradiated's regenerate and make you sad.

In A17 the falling animations are the same for stunned and dead so without the hp bars it really would be a lot tougher to tell if they were down for good.

It would also help if the "Press E to search the fallen zombie" notifier showed on unconscious zombies too. I don't think it would hurt the game to be able to loot stunned zombies, and I would like the tension if I couldn't tell a sleeping or stunned zombie from a nonanimated corpse at a glance.

I already offered it. Developers do not want this (((

I like this idea

Isn't that kind of the point? That they get back up and surprise you?

I mean, in a Zombie Apocalypse in real life.. I'm sure the instinct that everyone learns is once a Zombie is down, it's wise to put one square in the forehead to make sure.

Perhaps make it when Zombies are knocked down, bullets do 3-5 times more damage, so head shots when down are a certainty?

But that's the point. If you know then ... why bother ?

HP bars breaks immersion. Also make the game easier.

HP bars are only intended for bosses and will not even feature in A17.

They will not be implemented as they are in madmoles videos.

nothing to hope:

Okay, Kinyajuu messaged me the other day because I was complaining about the HP bar and I think he felt a bit fed up. Here is what he told me:
The HP bar is still being developed and refined because it is intended for boss zombies only. It has been enabled for all zombies to help with testing and balancing. The bar will not show for every enemy in the final release and because it still isn't ready for bosses it will most likely be removed for A17.

So basically what they've been saying all along is what they still intend and from the sound of it nobody will have to quit playing for A17 if they don't like the bar...

It also sounds like if you do like the bar for every enemy you will probably have to mod it in using the boss zombies as a guide.

no one threatened to quit over it, this game is just one of VERY few that has left me with a rush that didn't rely on jump scare tactics.

I love the feel of being in danger, of wondering if the thing is really dead or not.

And sadly madmole's videos have pointed out the HP bars several times on the A17 vids for NORMAL zombies, but never made any kind of mention that its not going to be on everything.

So if its boss only etc, then that is his fail.

Thats why you have to go make sure, i agree with the OP , a health bar should be an option, or to be honest not put in at all

I mean if you dont make sure its dead then its your fault, shouldnt need a helping hand

next there will be speech bubbles above their heads, you know incase, we forget to use our eyes and ears

For me it's a necessary evil when having to deal with irradiated zombies since I don't know if I'm hitting air or I'm actually dealing damage. But I do think they should be mandatory for those who want them to be. And for the love of god make it optional. I don't want another forced-to-sleep-in-beds fallout 4 experience where higher difficulty means being unable to see enemy hit points if I want to.
