They would only allow that if the crate was empty. At that point, considering how cheap they are to craft, there isn't much reason for it. But it wouldn't be a bad thing either. If i can pick up an entire work bench as long as its in my land claim i should be able to with crates..
primarily due to the fact that i got an iron storage crate and a stone axe. They would only allow that if the crate was empty. At that point, considering how cheap they are to craft, there isn't much reason for it. But it wouldn't be a bad thing either
But workstations have "you must clear its inventory" before you can pick it upWell they can't let you pick up a crate if your items stay in it or people would just exploit it. They would be running around with inventory full of crates. If they let you pick it up and if you happen to have a full inventory and your crate is full as well then I would guess everything would just fall to the ground. I would think a lot of players would panic especially if the crate had a lot of high value items.
This is not even counting the times that (at least I would) they would accidentally pick up the crate. I know I would.![]()
Yeah, they'd use the same mechanic if they added picking up crates. But workstations have "you must clear its inventory" before you can pick it up
I've never had that issue. Sometimes getting placed in the wrong spot because the cursor is right at the edge and it seems in the right place and then as I press the button, it shifts just enough to be in the wrong place. But never an issue with rotations.man, if i could pick up an empty crate i would be so much more inclined to use steel and iron crates. the game loves to turn things randomly when you are trying to place 'em

Why? Well, the box is still there, it doesn't bother anyone. In solo I have a lot of boxes lying around the map, I have a habit of putting a box on the road next to my house and putting the loot there. And after robbing the whole town I take out the loot. Of course I don't do that in a network game. The problem is not making them, the problem is removing the old ones. They are a nuisance to disassemble since you have to destroy them twice.
Why not leave them? If you placed them incorrectly, you could have destroyed them before upgrading them. If you are moving your base, just leave the stuff there. It won't hurt anything. You can always remove stuff later once you have better tools. And don't forget that you could destroy things using scavenging tools like a wrench, or you could use a pick. Because it's iron, those will destroy it far more quickly. Especially if you put in the mod to do more damage to iron. The problem is not making them, the problem is removing the old ones. Yes.Also doesn't the vanilla game just allow you to rotate left and right so label will always be facing you. I had to add a mod to allow me to rotate crates so I could place them in floors and ceiling and still see the label.
You can rotate. Just not in every direction. They have explained the reason for that as having to do with the new textures on the crates, IIRC.Many people have workarounds to functionality that would be parity with other existing functionality. I've always though it was weird that you could interact with crates in 4 ways, but none of those was "pick up," or even "rotate."
I really don't know why those can be picked up. There isn't any reason. The odd thing is that campfires can be picked up and they're incredibly cheap and easy to remove. I'd say remove that functionality if the reasoning is no one wants to do it.
Seriously. I break them vs picking them up, cause like they don't even stack, unlike crates. And they cost 5 stone... Oh well, might need to make a campfires thread.I really don't know why those can be picked up. There isn't any reason.
