Please - fix silent zombies

I like the game, however, the stealth/silent zombies (and animals) is very immersion breaking for me. How can two boars hit me in the ■■■ and not make one sound before doing so? How can zombies aways spawn/sneak right up behind me... all the time? Please make a configuration setting where all enemies make noise so I know they are coming. Thanks.

Right? And this is after they supposedly added footsteps for everything.

Hopefully this is in the options update, so i can make zombies more stealthy and you guys can make them less so.

Though i guess i could also turn my headphones down...

I don't know how to feel about this. Part of me thinks most zombies should be unintentionally making a modest amount of noise just by walking around without attempting to be quiet. And, if they cross a noise block (trash, glass, etc.) it should make the same noise players make when crossing them.

I think the frequency and volume of zombie vocalizations should be random within some range, like their health. I think the occasional quiet zombie is a nice change of pace.

If they were looking for a new type of zombie I think a silent one (no walking noises, no vocalizations) would be kind of cool, specially if they could look like a pile of trash or something when prone.

I typically play stealth, so headphones are on when in POIs. Maybe that helps?

Boars? They don't seem sneaky. I guess I don't really know what to expect from a boar. Mountain Lions and Wolves though could be sneaky. I think Mountain Lions hiding under the snow covered trees would be both cool and disturbing, worthy of the jump scare that would result.

If only the occasional zombie or animal is sneaky, ok. If almost all zombies and animals are sneaky (quote "all the time") then turn the music down and environmental sounds up.

I usually notice zombies and animals behind me by their sound, there could be exceptions I don't remember but they must be relatively seldom

I'll try that thanks!

ya I turned the music off. im outside in the started biome lvl 40 i think. many times they spawn right behind you and dont make a sound until they hit you in the back. while it isnt a problem to deal with them, its immersion breaking becuase i notice exactly what the game is doing. fix: 1. have most monsters make some sort of sound while walking. maybe a few are stealthy, but the majority should make at least some sound. 2. don't ■■■■ing spawn mobs RIGHT behind the player in outdoors... spawn them at least X (25m maybe) away and have them walk/run to the player. inside a POI I get you dont have the same options, but outside in the forest?

Yeah, I've also noticed a similar thing. A new player I've been playing with commented that the hazmat zombies are stealthy and quiet, which I think they are specifically supposed to be, because their breathing is muffled heavily by their suit. So to me, the hazmat zombies *are* the stealth zombies.

But the other zombies/animals? It shouldn't be that way. I've walked into many boars, and never heard them at all. A silent boar will just stroll passed you sometimes. I remember when boars were hostile, and a big deal (you'd absolutely lose in a 1v1 to a boar you were unlucky enough to cross paths with on Insane). Now they're just blissfilly unaware, silent little meat packages. All you gotta do is sneak to do the bonus damage on the headshot.

And a lot of zombies in general will just make no sound as they approach, and the first thing you hear is a thud because you got punched in the back of the head.
