I think it would honestly be great to be able to have some kind of pet. A dog, a cat, a horse, … breeding animals like pigs, rabbits or chickens would be quite cool as well, as it adds to the survival experience and that’s something I’d try and do in a real apocalypse?
They don't want to do pets as companions due to pathfinding issues. Might have a chance to talk them into non-companion animals like chickens that stay in a coop rather than following you, but even that seems more than they want.
