The skill tree contains both very useful and completely garbage skills.
It would be possible to increase their usefulness by combining them.
Animal Tracker and The Huntsman. The ability to track and extract more resources from animals.
Pack Mule could be included in the general strength tree, since the same result can be achieved by modifying the pockets.
Iron Gut and Master Chef. To eat less and cook better.
Better Barter and The Daring Adventurer. For better prices and rewards from merchants.
Lock Picking does not make sense at all, since the production of lockpicks is very cheap. This skill should be combined with Lucky Looter or Treasure Hunter.

Well, all the melee skills are for those who like weirdness. There is no point in taking them at the beginning even at the beginning, since the player finds firearms very quickly.
There is no need to complicate the acquisition of firearms, we need to make melee interesting and spectacular.
It would be possible to add block and dodge mechanics.

What you consider to not be useful isn't the same as what others consider to not be useful. Different people use different perks. I am sure there are perks you think are useful that I rarely ever use. For example, it's rare that I'll use Iron Gut OR Master Chef. We also don't need to make perks even more powerful by combining them or to make fewer perks.

Animal Tracker and The Huntsman: Agree, these should be combined.

Pack Mule: having this in strength makes sense as a stronger character can carry more. Love that they added damage negation to it as now its usable and glad they toned it down to 25% max. Playing strength sledgehammer build now and have this maxed out. Will probably always put 1 point in this even when doing other attribute primaries.

Iron Gut and Master Chef: I think iron gut needs some more love but combining it with master chef isn't the right way. Iron gut is best left in Fortitude as it is probably used most by beer drinking brawlers to extend the length of that 1 minute beer.

Master chef's bonuses are not good but its big appeal is increasing home cooking mag chance. It certainly makes the early game easier and really helps in PvE having a dedicated cook. I'm trying to play without it this run and only have 18 skill in Food on day 22 when this would probably be 100 with a single point put into master chef. Having it does dilute your magazine pool but I find that most of the drops of it are from kitchen cabinets where you are not going to find other mags. The best play is probably taking 1 point in this early then re-speccing out when you have food and water under control.

Better Barter and The Daring Adventurer: Disagree, these are really strong perks as trader is still OP. Daring adventurer seems like the only way for me to get trader items that outpace my crafting and looting. Don't feel like these are a must take either as you can just rely on trader less.

Lock Picking: The main draw here is getting extra forge ahead mags until level 15 in workstation skill. This can be abused by not reading the mags past level 14 and saving them up or in PvE by me passing the mags to our dedicated advanced engineering person and never reading them so never getting to level 15.

Lockpicking's bonus on its own is pretty small and could use buffed. Annoying to put points into this and still fail repeatedly to pick the lock and have it take longer than just bashing the container open.
