PC Performance of A17.

This isn't an FPS issue. There's a lag every x-amount of seconds happening regardless of your computer setup. I made 500 wooden frames on Sunday, had nothing but the craft menu up, and watched the frames ting-ting-tinging. And every 1-20 seconds there was a pause ... nothing would get built ... then the building would start again. Every 10-20 seconds, for the entire 500 frames. The game was doing something else every x-seconds and it was jarring everything to a standstill for a micro second. Continually.

(although there is also an FPS issue ... the issue however goes well beyond that and what system you are running)

Yeah but sadly once you get further into your game- the quarter-half second freezes start happening more and more. While this happens everything is still going on too, so keep trying to move if next to a zombie or get hit!
(edit- at least to me this happens)
I have that freezes from solar banks, triggered from sunrise. But it's gone if I switch them off.

yeah they redid the zombie spawns, now when i lat played around 2 patches ago and nothing mmuch changed, they made it so on days 7 they spawn in a wave of hordes walking right? to roam towards you until night time. to reduce the lagg from spawnining in at day 7 night instead all at once.. am not sure tho.

Probably something to do with the Windows 10 architecture I believe, it still has the "OS Message Pump" but I don't think that is the problem. It could be the Service message pump that C# uses and that's crap (good for a business app, not for games).

Tried playing A17 again, last time was late nov. This time, I updated nvidia driver first. Please to announce that a17 is playable now, no longer get ill from low frame rate . While I can tell frame rate does still drop, not terrible as before.
-thanks for optimizations!
For me (i5, 16gig RAM, 1050 ti, latest driver, Win7), A17's performance is worse than ever. Particularly in prefabs, feels like 15 FPS, there don't even have to be a lot of zombies. Unplayable. The framerate, there is zero doubt, has nothing to do with the voxels, previous versions run fantastic on my machine, 100 zombies on screen, still 40 - 50 frames and settings well above lowest.

Can't remember the post that I found this workaround in that took me from 50fps to 100+
1. Right click 7 days to die in Steam and choose “Show Game Launcher”

2.Make sure these boxes are checked

2.1 Show unity screen selector

2.2 Exclusive Fullscreen Mode

3. Run and save as default

4. Unity window will pop up and make sure “Windowed” is unchecked and select your desired resolution and press “Play”

5. When in the main menu choose Options -> Video -> make sure V-sync is turned off.

6. Profit!
Tried it and had to log in here and thank you kind Sir... now my i3, 750Ti potato can do more than 45 FPS :)

yeah its equal as before, i can get 58 frames in the earth while digging, but whenn 3 zombies is closer i get 17 :) not sure what to doe every setting on medium and water on 20% etc threes medium not sure what else i can do , 7days is the ONLy program running right. i quess the grapphics update in 17 was more then 16 . hope fix soon from the walking frame loss of zombies are ^^ not complaining still gonna struggle trough it game isnt bad becus of it.

vsync makes it looks like motion blur tbh better have it on even those it takes 20 frames but atleast it looks kinda better.

My husband and I have acquired another - NEW - lag in our ongoing game. One day it isn't there and everything is "fine" and the following day it is.

In base - and only near the base - every 2-3 seconds there is a brief staggering pause.

Something in the base's area is lagging the game down (for both of us). We only have like 1 torch up, 1 candle, and POI lights. But we did add some of our own lights on a timed switched .. wondering if they are adding to the lag?

If any one is experiencing the 1/2 second freeze every now and then, I found this is when you either play single player map or host a server on your own system.

This is explicitly for the tiny freeze. Game will run 60+ FPS but occasionally get these annoying 1/2 second freeze.

As expected, its due to your system hosting on your own machine while also playing the game. You may notice that if you play with your friends or play any multiplayer session, the freezes seems to have disappeared. I've tested this in a few different scenarios and it always came down to you hosting on your own system. Makes sense as your computer has to do more work.

I could be entirely wrong on this, but I haven't been able to find otherwise.

I get 30-45 FPS on my potato (i3 2120, GTX 750Ti and 8 GB RAM) if it's not crowded (drops to 20 or maybe below if I'm in a zombie gangbang), on lowish settings and 1680x1050.

I wonder why those FPS differ so wildly.

60 fps with vsync on. 1080p. Reflections and shadows off, water detail at lowest. Everything else on top tier setting apart from UMA.

Only time I get for drops is in the really big POIs when a lot of zombies become active. Horde night runs at 60. Only other drops are the garbage collection drops which I can cope with.

v-sync seems to be a terror on many games, but for some reason it just hits this game very hard compared to any other I played. Everyone that I have talked with who turned it off got some increase in fps, some just minor and some of us major!

I do find adding in mods that have their own models that don't do a LOD seem to hit the fps as well.

SOLAR PANELS cause massive lag spikes. COnfirmed (co-op server, both players experiencing it in the area of the solar panel). When a solar panel is charging (i.e.: day) lag spikes every 2 seconds causing 1/2 second game freezes. Utterly terrible.

This made a HUGE difference for me! Got rid of all of the jerky microstuttering. Thank you!

We honestly don't need two active discussions on the same subject, so closing this one down.

If you want to continue, here is the first topic that is active as of only 2 hours ago.
