PC Other games tried

I've tried several other survival games on pc and on Playstation in the past, none of them has held up long enough to keep my interest like 7 days.  ARK and Conan Exiles, you build a base and do this and do that and then it was like ok I'm bored now, what else is there to do? One of the things I like about 7 days is that if I start a map and get bored with it, I can delete the seed and pick something else as a seed and bam I have something different to do. Even on the legacy version (knowing there was no update) I always had something to do. I think one of my favorite things about 7 days is the fact that there's always a secret place to find in the game, always something new to learn. Plus not to mention that roaming hoards and screamers ALWAYS keeps you on your toes too lol.

I agree with you. I have played those as well and others that just fall short IMO. I am adapting to the "read to get better" plan but I still prefer the "improve as you do" aspect. I wish there was a combination of the two. I realize that would require much more development and may only be desired by a small group of players. I am constantly on the look for more survival games.

Yeah, I like Valheim, but it didn't really have the re-playability that 7 Days does. It has good potential, but some of the mechanics actually work against it.  V-Rising was similar, and even shorter.

Currently playing Bellwright, and it's looking like it will be the next contender for my top hours on Steam.

My current list is in the following order.

  1. 7 Days to Die
  2. Conan Exiles
  3. Empyrion
  4. Ark: Survival Evolved

Conan and Ark got the hours they did, because of mods. Ark is the first one in that list I have less than a thousand hours in. 7 Days is rocking in at 6500 hours largely because of that. Though I will admit that probably a third of those hours are just testing internal builds. I have a couple of thousand more from offline testing the dedi back before Steam tracked offline play, and a bunch more on the PS4 with the Legacy console version playing split-screen with the kid.

7 Days is definitely my favorite survival/crafting/building game. From being able to make custom personalized maps, all the settings, building anywhere, destroying everything, can go in every building, various map sizes, no main quest (for now but hoping I can turn off when added) nagging you to do stuff, and oh yeah there are zombies just puts it above the rest for me.

2nd place I’d say goes to the Subnauticas. After that Stranded Deep kept my attention for a bit. The Long Dark was cool until the enchanted bear showed up.

Diablo II.  and WoW

that gd bear...I am going to play the long dark again soon...they just did a big update. I got to 535 days once...that time the moose got me.

Yeah, at first ark was fun, but after you build a base, tamed the dinosaurs that you wanted, there was nothing to do, it got boring fast, and then ascended came out (bought it thinking it was different) then come to find out that it was just an enhanced version of evolved. Conan was ok, got kind of boring for me. Then I tried Rust and DayZ those games suck majorly. Tried No man's sky, wasn't too bad of a game really, but it got boring because of how the "multiplayer" scenario was. I've also tried the forest and green hell. The forest was kind of boring really and green hell took me a bit to realize the tribals ain't so friendly lol, but it wasn't a bad game. Other games I like playing on PC and on my PS5 is world of tanks, that's a pretty fun game to play. On PC I've been playing for over 10 yrs with over 300 tanks in my garage and on PS5 with around 230 tanks in my garage lol. Thats how I found out about 7 days on steam was because of one of my tank buddies played it and told me about it.

I was playing a lot of Green Hell until Creepy Jar decided to 'fix' your ability to carry around soups and medicine in your bidons. Ugghhh!

Always go back to Subnautica, original not Below Zero. Luv that game.

I wish The Long Dark gave you the ability to create small shelters, not huge bases, just small shelters while traveling to survive the cold.

Believe it or not, still playing Skyrim as well. Always go back to it at some point. Waiting patiently for Elder Scrolls 6.

For me, Green Hell just became trouble for the sake of trouble. After about 30 hours, it felt more tedious than anything. Initially it was fun and challenging, but the shine wore off pretty quickly.

lol, have to agree. It was like 10 steps, snake bite, 20 more steps, tarantula bite, bandaging up bites, the sound of a Jaguar approaching, lol.

I always played on the hardest setting "green hell" difficulty so the danger was through the roof. I loved the resource gathering and base building which is why I keep coming back to 7 Days also.

I forgot about Conan, haven't played it in a while, the building in that game was great. Watched many YouTube videos of base building that was incredible.
