PC Optimization for mac

How good is the optimization of the game for mac?

My friend have a mac m3 with 8 gb ram and have lags when we play together on my server with minimum value of settings for him.

Multiplayer has always been a little laggy for me when I play with friends in Texas and I am in Oregon. Ping around 150-ish. Where is your friend located? What is your ping?

Is 8GB the recommended memory on a Mac for 7DTD?  That would be low on a Windows PC which would cause paging file access (similar effect on Linux) and slow things down considerably.

8GB is pretty low for this game, but that mostly affects FPS or loading rather than lag.  Of course, sometimes FPS or loading speeds get called lag.  If you are referring to lag in the sense that someone does something and it takes a second or so before it actually happens, then that's usually going to relate to some network problem and not the OS or RAM directly (though possibly indirectly).  If you are referring to things loading late when moving around (such as cars popping up out of nowhere on the roads of a city), then that's the computer and not the network.

If it's related to the network, you can try using the Network Workaround option in the game settings on both computers to see if it helps.  Alternatively, try switching who is hosting the game.  You could also see if the problem occurs on a dedicated server.  Also, look at the pinned topic in the General Support channel to see things you can do to help, such as making sure you have the game excluded from antivirus for both the game directory and saves directory.

I'd also add that Mac memory requirements are typically 150%+ that of PC. I don't know why that is. But after comparing dozens of specs on games and audio software, I see it almost every time. Mac mem req. is considerably more than PC for some reason. Here is one example I found and screenshotted. This is an extreme example, but it gets the point across

This kind of @%$# usually happens when there is no native support, but the game launches in a container with interpreter, good example would be WOT, it is just clear there that thing start-up a container with minimal win and a layer of conversion, damn thing consumes so much resources and is so power-hungry that fps drops down to 15-20 even on the lowest settings... Say barely playable.

On the other hand 7d2d runs pretty fine now in 2k with average-high setting, no shadows/low water, average fps is 70-75, blood moon can drop to 45-50

M2 Max 32Gb

we are from russia both, our ping is <70. he has the effect of low fps all the time and periodically freezing time to time a little

Do they have the game on a SSD or HDD?  If HDD, that's likely a big part of the problem.
