PC old navezgane vs new (MY SINGLE, SELFISH, NEEDY COMPLAINT)

There is one spot, that I ALWAYS live in.. A location now known as 'Sal's Safehouse'... I don't like it anymore because
A. They switched the house, it used to be one of those ones with stairs leading in to the left, and a nice upstairs with a balcony

B. The house is on the opposite side of the road, making crossing the bridge (I always build) slightly longer to navigate to. so now I have to rebuild it.

And I bet many of your guys' favorite houses are possibly changed and all, but this means EVERYTHING to me.

Yeah my favorite base is no longer there. It was the old fashioned Ranger Base at the spillway Lake. More or less centrally located and once you chopped down two stairs you had stone walls.

But I am sanquin  with the changes, I go see trader Jen and look over her other wares.

When they updated most POIs for A21, many were completely redone and others were just changed a little.  They also updated the Navesgane map and are probably going to do so again before gold.  You do have options, though.  You can easily install an older version of the game and copy any POI you want to keep and then install the current version of the game and place those POI into your LocalPrefabs folder with different filenames or overwrite the new versions of those files with the old ones.  You can also grab a copy of the old Navesgane map from the older version of the game while you're at it if you want.  The only real issue with that is that there were some POI that had their sizes changed in A21 when they updated them, which could cause problems if you're using a mix of old and new versions of POI on an older Navesgane map.  You would probably need to do some testing and look around to see if there are problems.  On the other hand, if you put a copy of the old files into LocalPrefabs under a different name, you could also just open the new version of Navesgane in World Editor and place the old version of the POI where it used to be and replace the new version across the street with some other POI and you won't have to worry about using a mix of old and new POI on an old map.  That would be the easiest, though if there are other copies of that POI on the map, they will be the new version rather than the old, but it doesn't sound like that would be a problem for what you're looking for.

I have sometimes rescued old versions of POIs and included them in my Modlet because players were fond of the old version.

"Sal's Safehouse" is abandoned_house_06.

What version of the game did you like that POI? (That would tell me how far back to go to find it.)

I can't do anything about B. I don't get into modifying the Navezgane map, but I can make it show up via RWG on random maps. You would have the option of using the World Editor to put your version into an existing map.

Which version of the game? I have rescued an old Ranger Base before as I had fond memories of it. I might have nabbed that one already.

it's been so long I have no idea which version.  It's a two-story ranger station made out of stone. There is an outer staircase leading to a wrap around wood balcony on the second floor. Inside there is an oven and some filing cases and I think there was a refrigerator. There is an interior set of stairs to the first floor that had a toilet, some lockers, there's lots of windows too. I would chop down both stairs live on the second floor. I'd have a stone base that I could easily fill in the windows and the door on the first floor and upgrade them to Stone.  I always put my campfire on the stove and use it for storage, built the forge next to the refrigerator.

I believe what you're describing is the same Ranger Station that I wanted. If you look in my modlet (ZZTong-Prefabs) I think zztong_tfp_ranger_station_01 is the one you are describing. I would have made some changes to keep it up-to-date, but when I recover one like that I try to stay faithful to the layout and design.

If so, then you might also like zztong_rebirth_01 which is a fallen trader built around that POI. That POI was made because the Rebirth fanbase had been giving me lots of feedback at the time and they wanted a possible POI to make into a Trader.

While I've never played Navezgane (didn't want to play it until everything is "done"), I have to admit I miss the junk yard POI that had a large 2 story concrete (iirc) building that had several vehicle bays.  It was great to make into a starter base/horde base, and it's been gone for a couple alphas now.

I can't tell what POI that might be. If you load up an old version, find it, let me know the version number and the name of the POI.

It's probably not gone as much as it has been expanded and adapted to current blocks. TFP will sometimes reimagine and repurpose a POI. They don't tend to get rid of them, but sometimes you don't easily recognize the old one in the new one. That can make us be a bit nostalgic for the old version.

I think it was just called junkyard.  I know they took it out because they were going to rework it, but I don't think it ever got re-added (or at least not in a recognizable state.)  It was mostly nice because it was just a big, open floor concrete building that was easy to convert into a base without having to do a lot of demo.  There was a big empty lot outside with several dumpsters and a bunch of broken down cars, iirc (my recollection of it is mostly after I'd cleaned it up to use as a base.)

I wasn't really looking to get it saved, just sharing a POI that I used to like (functionally, not really aesthetically) because the thread made me think of it.

Prolly this thing?

Categorized as Alpha 16, but I wouldn't know ...
That is, in fact, it.  I don't think it's been gone quite that long, as I recall using Junk Turrets in my base there, but it's been gone for at least a couple alphas, I believe.

Like I said, the appeal wasn't aesthetic, it was just a very strong POI that had a lot of open space to build in without requiring a lot of demolition.

I'll see what I can find. I'm not sure I can rescue all the way back to Alpha 16 without consulting with Stallionsden. The process to bring a POI forward a version changed from something to what it is today somewhere back around then.

I've kept a junkyard POI alive in Wasteland. My version originally came from maybe A18/A19 I think, maybe A20. I've made a few changes to it, like the garage doors, but it's mostly original.

'Sal's Safehouse'

Otherwise known as abandoned_house_06 in 1.x. I see that it's picture changed going into A21, so I think you liked the A20 version.

I expect to be able to bring forward that A20 POI.

As of A21 forward, there is just this Junk Yard POI. But in A20 and before there was:

junkyard_med_01 -- 61x52 industrial

junkyard_lg_01 -- 79x87 industrial

I expect to be able to bring forward both of those POIs, though I will have to resize them and I'll likely make them rural instead of industrial where they will have a better chance to get placed because we need lots more rural content. Large industrial places involve competition for very few places in an RWG world.

I've brought those three POIs forward from A19. The two junkyards came through with just a couple of missing blocks. They should be quick to update to 1.x.

The A19 version of abandoned_house_06 (Sal's Safehouse) still has a stairway going up the middle of the house, though at the top of the stairs it is open instead of having a couple of rooms. @AidenwithAnAxe's description talks of stairs going up the left. I don't think I got that version. I'll load up A19's Navezgane and see what that is.

Hmm, A19 Navezgane is the same was what I brought forward.

For me it was The police precinct that I think was converted to a visitors center. The road out front, went to Perishton, the high school,

and the stadium across the street. To the right was the set of houses that Neeb's crew took over. For some reason it felt safe there.

My only defenses were a wooden door, with 1 cobblestone block in front, basic wood spikes, and a built up block on the stairs.

It was in the plains.

I have only played Navezgane for a few hours of my 1000+ Since Random gen was introduced, I have never played it again. The idea that I know where things are feels like cheating to me.
