PC Oh my God, THANK YOU PIMPS!

I don't know (and frankly, don't care 😂) if it's a placebo, but the recent experimental update which enabled graphics jobs on Windows, made the game run WAY more smoothly on my PC! 🥳

I have the following specs:

  • CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700K
  • GPU: GeForce RTX 3080 Ti
  • Memory: 64 GB

I used to get 60-70 frames per second in big cities, but after the update, the framerate jumped to 90-120 frames per second!

That is amazing!

Here are my settings:

And here is the game when I teleported myself to a massive city located near 0,0:

(Don't judge the hardware temps 🤣 I live in Egypt, and the temps are 40-45 degrees Celsius these days 🥵)

Out of curiosity, where is the new option to enable graphics jobs?  I'd like to test it on my computer but haven't looked to see where or how to enable them after seeing the patch notes.

It's enabled now by default. They added these lines to boot.config, tweaks that have been a common performance suggestion for some years.

gfx-enable-gfx-jobs=1
gfx-enable-native-gfx-jobs=1

You can do as @seven suggested or open the game's launcher and tick "Enable graphics jobs". I am pretty sure it is enabled by default now.

If it is enabled by default, it hasn't improved anything for me.  Too bad.

You could check and make sure, boot.config is in the 7DaystoDie_Data folder. I didn't do anything to add those lines (don't use the launcher ever) and they are there for me. But, from discussions I remember it's not a fix that works for everyone. I suppose it depends on your hardware and what is causing bottlenecks. I haven't given it a test yet but I'm hoping it will make my downtown wasteland experience a bit better.

Fantastic! Just read this post and had to jump into the game to check. Cities have been "okay" for me, but there's always a noticeable loss of frames when in a city. Thought the fading windows was going to fix it, it didn't. Then whatever this update was -- did a mission in the city and the game stayed absolutely smooth. Very happy indeed!
