I'm not 100% on this but you might be able to get it from humble bundle. I think you can pick once you buy games there do you want it as steam key or DRM free. But do look it up as I did say I'm not 100% sure

U cant connect to any MP game, no matter how much copies u own. Thats the problem. No steam - no Mp - rly suckz

You aren't likely to see a DRM free version for a while. Most of those DRM-free games have been out of development for quite some time, or don't have a large multi-player segment.

You're free to play single-player mode without Steam being online.

This has been discussed a few times before.

What exactly are you saying here? You pirated the game and played 2k hours on your stolen copy but you will pay for it if a DRM free version comes out because that is something you would support but if not screw TFP? I'm hoping there is a language gap issue here because you are sounding mighty pushy and not very scrupulous at the same time.

He's Right you know ^^^^

At 2,000 hours, if you paid a penny each time you played the game, you'd have paid for a copy by now. and the game is usually on sale for $10, so you'd own two copies. This game is super cheap and is quite a steal for the price and the value you get based on quality alone. if you are a pirate, why steal a low cost game like this to just play solo?

HB will provide you a Steam key, whether you get 7DtD from the store or via one of their bundles.

There really is no DRM for this game. Current DRM schemes are rather clean - nothing like the old days of rootkits and other DRM schemes that were essentially virii.

If you don't want to use steam then you cant play multiplayer.

There's only one reason I can think of to not want to use Steam for playing multiplayer and it rhymes with Racban....

And the reason for needing to circumvent one of those does go hand in hand with the whole piracy vibe.

This is wrong. Just look at gog, their complete catalogue is DRM free and while they started out with good OLD games, as the name implies, most of their new entries nowadays are games "hot of the press". Even AA/AAA titles like Darksiders III, X4 Foundation (to name a multiplayer title), Stellaris (another MP), The Witcher 3 (obviously), Divinity Original Sin II, ...

Even many games on steam are really DRM-free, it is the decision of each individual developer whether he turns on DRM or not.

PS: 7D2D seems to use steam for player verification, not necessarily for checking whether you own the game.

Factorio for example IS available DRM-free on steam and on gog. But they have a player verification feature on their own website and server owners can decide whether they want verified players or not (for example if they want to play on a LAN without internet)

Well DRM is in my eyed a necessity these days for multiplayer games

You can play SCUM on multiplayer with a illegal copy. The result is that a army of Cheater kills the game currently

Btw for singleplayer games you need steam only online to install these games.

UNtil now all singleplayer games i had i coiuld play in offline mode

I bought this game and not only for me but also for friedns and family. Steam was down yesterday and i cud not play. Thats all

and i drunk too much yesterday which may explain my language....

It would also explain how you missed this window when you opened the client, and Steam was unable to connect....

Click the button in the middle, and you won't have any issue playing offline. (Single-Player mode anyway.)

Trying to play ravenhearst via the 7 days to die mod launcher or directly via the exe when steam was down and the middle "play offline" option was greyed out for me. Maybe he had the same issue?

If Steam is down, then there isn't much the developers of this game can do. That's all on Steam.

I support developers rights to not have their games pirated en masse.

Of course DRM free is nice to have, in-case the zombie apocalypse really ever does happen! If steam goes down for good, imagine not being able to play all our favorite games in a time when there wouldn't be anything better to do then play video games. Playing games about the apocalypse while living through the apocalypse... FUN!
