No alphas will work for me anymore! :(

I've never Modded.  I've had 7dtd since alpha 12 ish and never had any issues. 
I try to connect to a freinds game or set up a new one and it gets to 'creating player' then the code box pop sup and cycles through a "NullReferenceException" stating that the "object reference not set to an instanceof an object" over and over. 

I've tried;
-uninstalling / reinstalling

-restarting the the PC

-rebooting the pc

-Validating files

-entering game launcher and deleting all files and player files

-installing a21 experimental

-installing an old alpha 20

-wiping files from the pc manually

Im at a loss! 

When i go into player profiles in the settings it crashes in a similar way too. 

saying "XUi Error while updating window group 'optionsProfiles';
Index was outside the bounds of the array" 

Any thoughts?

Oh, sorry, no. I've never modded. there is no 'mod' folder. I deleted and scrubbed (i believe) all files multipple times. It still fails upon 'creating player' screen.

I have looked through loads of threads and have implemented plenty of troubleshoots but still none seem to work  

I'm at a loss! 

I tried accessing the 'player profiles' from the menu too and it crashes there also. 

Any information I can send that will help find a solution, please let me know!

-Im running windows 10, playing through through steam, multiplayer. 
- ive tried running anti cheat, same issue

-ive created multiple new games, new maps, reset defaults etc.

-i keep getting stuck on 'creating player' when loading a new game or joining a multiplayer game

PC hardware Info? Do you have anything unusual installed (both hardware and software) that could maybe conflict with games?

Do you have any weird characters / symbols in your Steam profile name? I don't know if that affects anything, but this is a very unusual issue, so it's worth looking into unusual things that may be causing it.

Also, have you tried running a much older version of the game, like Alpha 10.4 (it uses the older game engine)? It could narrow down the issue if you can manage to get something working on it.

Also note that a custom pagefile will crash Unity. It needs to be set to the default of "System Managed".

Thanks @Fox ! Great ideas! Bit of a pain but i think that's a great way to troubleshoot! 

Im rocking an old alienware x51. It's struggling a bit for sure but I havent altered anything in it ... especially since the last time I played 7dtd

@SylenThunder Not sure how there would be a custom pagefile on the pc. It did look like a pc repair place created a virtual sysytem and locked me out of admin. but I played 7dtd many times since than. Also unsure how i'd change that parameter to be system managed. 

hmmm.. I might do a system recovery / wipe. Do you think that might help? 

I'd hate to say goodbye to the game!

I don't know if this is the route cause of your problems, but I do know you're likely below minimum requirements for this game. This game requires a minimum of 2GB Vram and even if you had the GTX 670, that's still a 10 year old graphics card... very slow for today's gaming. Also, Dell / Alienware is a scam company these days and they sell terrible products now, so my recommendation when you upgrade later on, avoid that brand.

Your CPU is also really old / slow for today's gaming too. You weren't kidding about calling your computer old.

As I mentioned before, try running Alpha 10.4. Not only would that version run way better on your current hardware, but it could narrow things down if even that version doesn't work.

If you didn't mess around with pagefile, then it's more than likely set to default, so that's fine.

This part has me a bit concerned though:  "It did look like a pc repair place created a virtual sysytem and locked me out of admin."

Why would a repair person do something like that to your computer other than to force malware or some junk onto it and prevent you from removing it? Seems very suspicious to me.

LOL I know it's old af but i've gotten so many compliments on how well i've kept the sytem running!! XD

and i've ran harder games on it recently with no problem and have ran 7dtd as recent as last February without issue.... so, i implore you and @SylenThunder to not give up!!

im certain this is a stupid fix that's 100% my problem and not my rigs !! 

Also.. i genuinely cant afford food, let alone a new rig, so please dont leave me with no gaming escape lol!!

Once this PC is obsolete, im genuinely scared for my future/life!! XD

In the original post, you mentioned connecting to a friend's game... but what about just starting a solo game?

Also, ignore A21 Experimental for now... it's an unstable build with plenty of issues we don't need to add to the problem right now.

Have you tried deleting your profile?  If you are playing on a server or someone else is hosting a game, then they need to delete your profile for you as it will by on their system and not yours.  If it's single player, you can do it yourself.  The launcher has the option to delete your profile.  You can also delete the profiles.sdf file in your saves folder.  Even if you tried with the launcher, if you're still having trouble for a single player game, try manually deleting that file in your saves folder.

@Fox Yah I tried a solo game too and every which way it stops me at the "creating profile" part
 
@Riamus I launched the launcher and deleted everything possible in there.. Is there another way to do it?? I feel like that would fix it but i cant find a way

It would be good to know what that null ref error is, none of those logs have it. But, you may want to try deleting your game settings. Go to the launcher, Tools, Open game settings, and delete that registry folder (look on the left side on the bottom, you'll see 7 Days to Die there)

HALLELUJAH!!! I GOT IT WORKING!! 

I rolled back to alpha 20.0 and went through verifying idles and cleaning files from the launcher menu etc and boom!! Something worked
