Night vision Tiers and or thermal vision

Night vision is currently worse than head lamps and when you don’t want a light source 90% of the time you’re better off just not having anything. So you should make tiers that reduce the overlays border and graininess with the current night vision as tier 1 or 2. Also thermal vision would be cool so either make that its own thing or make tiers 5 and 6 be thermal or have the thermal border overlay modern night vision has.

Also add a setting to make nighttime and underground dark enough to require light sources.

I started with Alpha 21 and like the green tint night vision better than the current grey or whatever it is called in Pantone/ Hex/ RGB

While I do miss the green, I use the current night vision very frequently. When it comes to stealth, its far better than a headlamp. Still, I wouldn't object to different levels of night vision goggles, even if the current quality was level 2-4 in the grand scheme of things.

I'm curious if the OP has used the game's darkness settings? I believe TFP has run into problems with widely varied subjective opinions about what is too dark and what is too light, thus that setting should have a pretty big swing in effects. I'm not sure of the game's ability to identify underground and I suspect it knows indoors vs outdoors, but that's just a guess.

Right now, my brightness is set to 0%, and indoors it's completely dark if there are no light sources, although outdoors it could still be darker.

Interesting. I've come to play the default. I had been making it darker, but then outside during a full moon was too dark. I mean in real life I generally see decently well at night by moonlight. Underground would be different. Inside a house kind of depends. Weather would make a difference. I concluded I would have to tweak the setting every time I changed the scene. It was like there wasn't enough range.

I forgot to mention I wonder if a player's gear and room make a difference? I mean I discovered when playing stealth that I needed to kill the room lights around me and turn off my desk lamp. Interior lights were washing out my display. Then I have different monitors I could use that seem to be different in brightness.
