PC Newbie alert!

Depends on the person.

I would agree that watching a stream once is beneficial if the person just wants to try out a game for a few minutes to see if he likes it and doesn't know anything about it. BUT if that person already asks for some tips here in the forum and gets a handful of advice and obviously knows that he could ask here whenever a problem comes up, then watching a streamer is highly superfluous and spoils the fun.
I agree.  I had the most fun (and wild stories) when I was playing with friends and no one knew anything about how the game worked.  Only when we couldn't figure something out (like: What does a land claim block really do?) someone would read up on a specific mechanic and report back the next day we played together.  It really amped up the fun factor.

I had a lot of fun learning this game. I didn't look up much because the search bar in your craft menu would tell you what you'd need to craft something (skills, materials, etc.). I still find new things and I'm about 550 hours in with the majority of that being solo. I also played exclusively on Navezgane solo. That helped me establish some routines pretty early.

I would agree that videos aren't the best as they focus on minimaxing the game and really just breaking the mechanics or fun of it. For some, that is how they "win", but not how like to play. Update videos are handy, however! Learning what's changed in a new update is something we watch with each one.

The best way to learn is to play and if you get stumped come on here and ask a pointed question. Have some fun and it's a lot more fun with some friends!

One good thing about videos is that they can inspire you.  I was always fighting boredom in early game during the nights.  I watch a player convert one of the demolished bases into their home/BM base so I decided to go that route this current playthrough.  Day 27 and I have yet to have a free or bored moment at night. 😉

Did you get the kind of advice you were looking for? There is sooo much to 7 Days to Die, we don't want to spoil all the fun of learning/discovering things.
