PC My Replayability Issue w/ A17

And yeah the early reports that base building (at least on week 1) was dead were just coming from the players who suck at the game getting their ass handed to them. Bases work just fine in A17. I've built the same bases I always build with no issues.
That's a pretty bold statement about players ability lol. I can fix that quote for you though.

"AI cheesing Bases work just fine in early game A17."

Well maybe, but I was led to believe that my usual little 9x9 re-enforced flagstone box with 3 rows of iron spikes round it would get swept away like Alderaan against the Death Star on day 7, yet it was fine. Only lost 30-odd spikes and about 6 blocks of the main walls.

oh, so you mean horde base, not a home base, correct? If that's the case, yeah, imo you'll be fine for a horde night. now building an actually home base to craft, have forges going in, ect... that would get destroyed by roaming horde. Been there, done that, had to bail and kite ferals away. Now I just take over a 2 story or higher POI and live in the 2nd while I get ready to build a home base.

This is pretty much what I did. Other than killing zombies when I saw them (which is NOT the same as going all out to power level), I played A17 the same as I played every alpha before it. I still ended up level 100 on day 30. Put it this way, I have a full-on 3-story Steel base with 3 layers of electrical defences on day 32. It is not like I was skimping the building and mining to go kill zombies.
I reckon if I had played the POI jumping game and not bothered with building anything, I'd have been level 100 somewhere on day 20.

Are you playing 60 minute days?

100% Agree with this quote

If this really is the direction they are going, then there is ZERO point in having a Voxel engine. Port the entire game over to a classic polygon-based engine and at least it will look decent. Right now the game gets a lot of flak for its ancient graphics because people do not realize it is a Voxel game. No point in Voxel if you want to push the players away from building a base.
I'm 21 days in a SP game and I'm bored. I've got over 2000h between PC and console and I've never been bored of this game before. I thought it was just me, but this thread proves otherwise.

I used to recommend this game to anyone who was vaguely interested in gaming. I promoted it because it was a game that rewarded you for playing all of it: mining, scavenging, crafting, building and combat. Mining was a big part of the game and now is more like an endless underground scavenger hunt taxing your stamina with little reward. It's too hard to build if you can't get sufficient resources to build it.

You are doing it wrong, I'm afraid. Just put 3 points into Daring Adventurer, then spend 1 to 2 days running the most time-efficient Trader quests you can. Bingo! More mods than you will ever need. I am level 100 and have one full storage full of mods that i have no item to put them all, because all my items are fully modded. I even have multiple weapons of the same type just to find a place to put the mods I have.
In the latest build they just crippled the end game even further. Since there is nothing else in place, we have to assume that the current end-game is looting for mods. Well if the game is now going to throw mods at me 5 at a time from traders for less than 10k dukes.....again., why would I EVER go looting?

By all means have the traders sell mods, but having them sell a tier 6 Pistol already equipped with 5 decent mods for < 10k is madness.

The POI with 14764 zombies "living" in the same house (nerd pole to the roof/loot, done)The AI of engineering college grad zombies

The stamina simulator 2018 (better now)

The "simplification" of guns and parts

The level gating "grindfest" / Changing of learn by doing

The almost "elimination" of mining underground

The "building" is kinda gone

ALL of these (with the exception of the mining underground) can be fixed by tweaking numbers and we should be fine... but... Trying to balance "survival, RPG, FPS, Tower Defense, Voxel building, sandbox" would be too much work or even impossible for a team like Blizzard or Bethesda. For this to work they'd need a team for each genre and listen to each to make sure that any of the other teams plans don't interpose the others.

The lack of direction and the confusion as to "what" the game is going to end up being is whats turning me off at the moment. Is this the next Killing Floor/Dying Light? The next great Minecraft for adults? Fallout 7??

If your answer is ALL of them, we have a problem...
I'm reading this and can not believe I never thought to nerdpole up to the roof and just grab the loot...lmfao...thank you for this service to the community!

Nerdpole being nerfed or taken out of the game in 3... 2... 1...

TFP take this kinda comment seriously and believe that people are "beating" them. They will eventually deal with this as they think you are "winning" and they can't have that. You need to "DIE", its fun!

if nerdpoling were removed, you might as well remove building from the game. I strongly believe that nerdpoling is something that will stay, players choice to do it or not.

I choose to do it. I get no sense of accomplishment going through the same dungeons multiple times. With dungeons dominating the POI layout it's nice to be able to just get some quick loot on the way home from hordenight, or scouting/hunting, ect.

Yeah it's like someone at TFP is trying to get you.... always!

"Did someone say they have a way to bypass our intended system?"

You're preaching to the choir dude! I know this, you know this... lets see how the TFP take it when everybody has done the POIs 40-50 times and just want to get on with it. Nerdpole here and nerdpole there, break this brick and voila! = LOOT.

For me the new POIs in this game are like WOW warfronts. The devs put sooooooooooooo much work into them and are such a main focus of the game that they are kind of trapped. They need to make it for people want to do them. If people start cheesing them, they are "forced" to protect their investment and not let them.

This is what scares me and I've raised this issue a bunch of times... where is the game going? If you add some things how do they affect whats already there. (Balancing a FPS, RPG, Survival, Voxel building, now apparently Farm Sim, etc.)

Don't get me wrong... I still like the game (not love it as before) and will save my final verdict/review for Steam and Metacritic till the end, but it does feel a bit all over the place.
