Is this a standard feature or is it because its a new account?

Will this restriction eventually dissapear? It really slows down attempts to communicate.

Sorry to be a pain, but this is the first forum I've used where this is even a thing that happens.

 
Yes, this is a restriction on new accounts that goes away after your first few posts. It impedes spam among other things.

 
It's actually very common for killing spam on forums. It's just more obvious here than it is on others.

 
Wonderful, out of curiosity. How long will it last? Or is that a security measure that can't be revealed? :D

Yeah, you only need like 5-10 posts to get fully unlocked, and some of us can take care of it manually.
