One thing that many players do not seem to understand or want to understand is that 7 days to die, despite all its qualities, had a real problem of appeal for many players: the graphical aspect.
I have attracted a lot of players in this game, but for some I have never been able, because the graphics displeased them.
Myself, the first time I started the game 4 years ago, I had to ignore the visual aspect of the game: it was ugly, definitely ugly.
Fortunately for me, I persevered, discovered the forum and creators very involved in the development and I took the time to discover extraordinary gameplay and promises that were all held.
But commercially speaking, TFP had to change that. And they did it: currently it's a beautiful voxel game. Textures, lights, assets, all this has been reworked and the game is now much more immersive.
But this comes with a price.
1) Some configurations can not run the game correctly because the optimization will come only at the end of the development,
2) Some features we like are removed from the game because they are too resources greedy. I remain convinced that many of these features will come back, once the problems of fps falls resolved.
3) The requirements for a larger map, more zombies or other hardwarophage calculations (I like neologisms) are not relevant and should be postponed.
Patience is the key word. As Alpha Testers, I think we need to be tolerant and understanding. It is a slow process. Attacking TFP about the fact they regularly redo entire parts of the game is the symptom of our lack of knowledge of the work of artists. We are fortunate to have a team that takes its time, refines the details, is able to challenge themselves and stays tuned to its community of players. How many devs would have already given up in front of waves of rage that have followed many changes (Roland has made the list here and it's as comical as tragic) ? How many devs would have released the game as it is to move on an other game and no longer have to be insulted and demolished as it's the case now?
I read many posts that had the flavour of rage and despair. All this is excessive. Some players want to appear more passionate than the devs themselves. It's a little ridiculous: if you don't like it at that point, do it yourself. Respecting creation is essential. Understanding that as players we're generally not aware of the constraints of such a development is essential. Providing help, advice, constructive remarks is essential. The rest is counter-productive, often childish, always destructive.
It's up to us to express our expectations politely and respectfully. Those who want everything immediately will be the first responsible for a sloppy realization by putting pressure on a team that has always been passionate about its own game.
Finally, we are fortunate in having a excellent moderation. I am admin of two forums (thank god, no game forums). I am certainly not famous for being a very diplomatic admin / moderator, but I can assure you that the life expectancy of many contributors would have been drastically reduced after 3 or 4 posts as contemptuous and deconstructive. Here they can flood all topics ad nauseam. They should take this opportunity to improve their social skills. It's never too late to stop being an arrogant and aggressive player. Let's try that.
AND I WANT TO BE ABLE TO PLAY WITHOUT HUD, YOU STUPID DEVS, MAKE IT POSSIBLE ASAP OR I'LL KILL A PUPPY.
Sorry, have to take my pills.
