PC mushrooms and spores

Besides caves, where else do folks find mushrooms growing? This play through is particularly tough as POI's are limited and i cant seem to find a cave.

Spores I seem to remember finding occassionally in trash cans or dumpsters. Im thinking ive seen them in regular rotten trash piles. Anyone have a favorite mushroom scavenging approach?

Lol,I think it was nerfed so they no longer provide raw materials.

There are a couple of POIs where they grow in a greenhouse-like place in the basement. Otherwise it's just caves and random spore drops.
