I would love a more detailed level of control on how zombies spawn in the game. I know a lot of people ask for more zombies, and I have no problem with that. What I would like is location specific scaling of zombie spawns. In the alphas, I usually played solo on Nomad (3 of 6 difficulty) not a masochist after all, and the only real complaint I would have is having to stop 2-3 times clearing a large POI to go deal with a screamer outside (I am the type of person who would rather not have an unknown number of enemies coming up behind me while I am doing detailed work). Even then, an inconvenience on average.
However, in 1.0 it seems to be escalating quite a bit. (I won't bother here with how I have always had at least 2 screamers spawn at any given time instead of 1) I am only playing on Adventurer (2 of 6 difficulty), to get used to the new game mechanics. However, after I got to Tier 3 in quests, not only were the rate of screamers increasing, but just random wandering hordes are a constant hassle. It's no longer just an inconvenience. I know that snow biomes, cities, and nighttime increase spawning rates, but I within 30 seconds of first arriving at a new POI to clear before redoing it for a quest, I had a 15 zombie hoard. Less that 2 minutes after I stepped foot inside, I had a screamer. Then another 20 zombie horde that wasn't summoned by the screamer. 3 more minutes in the POI another 15 zombies, 2 more minutes 2 screamers. All of this from 4:00 to 12:00 am. Throughout the whole day I only made it maybe halfway through the POI because I was constantly having to go outside and clear hordes. And this isn't even the quest run, I am just pre-clearing the POI before I do the actual quest. I do acknowledge that I make noise when clearing POIs, but I never had anything like this in the alphas, even in very high gamestages.
All I'm suggesting is perhaps a function that while in a POI, especially if there is an active quest, reduce the ambient spawn rates by maybe 50%? As soon as you leave or finish the quest, they can go right back up, maybe even higher than normal for a short while. Overall, just a bit more baked in control over zombie spawns other than just "on" or "off". Please?
Edit: Actually, there is one other thing I would love to see. Can we get the editor controls in-game when using creative mode? I would love to be able to mess with lighting effects in a structure I have built.
