so i was going around twitch streams for 7 days yesterday asking about mods people might be interested in seeing, because i want to try out some stuff. most i heard was weapon mods, so i want to ask a bit about that.
for anyone who has experience with modding the game so far, what's the biggest obstacle you face when creating mods? one mod i really want to look in to making is weapon components - imagine laser sights or bayonets that can be added to weapon barrels to improve accuracy or give a melee attack, or a greasing compound to your receiver that increases fire rate. in your opinion, why haven't these been made yet? i imagine an interface just like the current gun assembly interface, only for individual components. granted the effects compounding like this would probably create a hell of a troubleshooting window, the possibilities are quite diverse, as well as being logistically compatible (i hope) with the weapon system changes coming in a17.
i've got a few different ideas that i'm ready to try out soon, but there are so many interesting ones, i am having a hard time choosing just one! i think my preference would probably be in ammo types. hollowpoint rounds or serrated arrows, maybe. the same way i'd mentioned before, do you think it'd be feasible to have an ammo system that allows you to, as we do now, select one ammo type, only to open up a secondary interface with more options? for instance: when you hold R and choose between your available ammo types, a steel arrow might have smooth, serrated, flaming, and flathead options on a secondary interface after you select steel from the first menu. smooth = standard, serrated = bleeding +dmg, flaming/exploding = well yeah, and flathead = higher knockdown chance -dmg. same options for iron, you get the point. how about more material types for arrows, like gold or silver that do bonus damage to zombie bears? or diamond tipped bullets that pierce through targets? how about .308 for snipers that do double damage, but cause double wear for AKs? HOW ABOUT AN M4?? an ultra rare minigun, 5mm ammo? 5mm turrets? rocket turrets?
the addition of the compound bow made me really happy and i'd like to see more diversity with specific gun types, though i feel it'd be a waste of time to mod them in with a17 around the corner. that and getting the models done would take long enough that i'd probably only finish those by the time it's released. how about makeshift swords, or more blacksmithing in general?
