PC Mining Helmet, No Light

I looted a mining helmet, the picture shows a light, it used to have a light, but nothing happens when I try to turn it on.  Is this now normal?

You have probably found the miner armor head piece. It is part of the miner armor set and looks just like the old miner helmet. Like all armor, you find it unmoded and you can put a helmet light in it. I don't think the old miner helmet is in the game. I could be wrong but I have never seen it.

When I found a miner helmet, I was, like you, disappointed that there was no light in it but then I realized that it's part of a set of armor now.

Miner armor is a niche set for somebody who wants to maximize their mining harvest. You may or may not want to wear it when you're doing missions and looting poi's.

Even in older versions, the mining helmet needed the light mod to use the light.  But they almost always came with one when you found them.  I did occasionally find one without the mod, but only a few times.  Now, they do not include mods, so you need to install one.  They can be purchased, looted, rewarded, or crafted.

I just assume the headlamp shown on the Miner set's helmet is broken and doesn't work (in-game lore).
