Has nothing at all to do with this topic. You should create your own thread so we can help you out better as that doesn't seem right. GTX 970 should be performing a lot better than that in A17.Performance is really terrible in A17. It was bad when A17 first dropped and it's just dreadful in the current build. Things run nominally until I go into a POI (not every POI but most of them) or there are zeds on screen. Then my FPS bottoms out. It's gotten down to single digits. Meanwhile my card (GTX 970) is boiling and the fan is at full throttle.
I booted up A16.4 and I get a silky 60FPS with settings maxed. One of many reasons I think I'm going back to A16.4.
My performance issues include microstuttering. No matter; I have already rolled back at 16.4 and don't see myself reversing course.Has nothing at all to do with this topic. Turn. Off. Reflections.I dunno, I run silky smooth 60 fps except when inside some POIs or using torches on the walls. Both issues ask for optimizations, which devs are working on right now, hopefully, besides selling t-shirts.
Yes and no... I'm not going to go into details with you as I'm sure even I'm probably not supposed to know some of the things that I know, but if you stick around long enough, maybe become a moderator for 2 years like I did, etc, stuff occasionally leaks out and you catch wind. But I know well enough to keep stuff like that to myself. But what you (and anyone else) can do is basic math. We all know the devs here have sold far more than a half million copies of this game as they officially celebrated that several years ago, so let's just for the sake of working with absolute proven facts that are publically available and keep it at half million copies (even though they're probably closer to a million or more by now). So, the game started off selling at $35 and then worked it's way down to I think $25, and then the sales... so for the sake of absolute worst case scenario, $15 sale price per copy times half million sold = how much money again? And that was absolute worst case scenario. They more than likely made 2 or 3 times that amount by now. And that doesn't even include the money they received when they sold the rights to the game to the console publishers which I know isn't cheap. So ya... it's basic math. And if you think the cost in making the game is somehow making a large impact on their profits, think again.Fox, do you have proof these guys started, prior to the sales of 7 Days, as multi-millionaires? It's easy to say but I just have trouble believing it. Indie developers are generally NOT rich. Not disputing you, simply asking for some proof.
Asuzu, nVidia is not cursed with Voodoo (3dfx). They were separate companies back in the day and in fact at that time 3dfx was by far better. We're talking DOS and Win9X here. 3dfx however, started rushing hardware and drivers and went under. It was then that nVidia purchased them to gain rights to things like the Glide API. 3dfx did have many good things until they started rushing to try to push out hardware and drivers faster than anybody else. Now who else was it that was going under due to shoddy drivers and got bought out? That's right, ATI.
4 million copies as per anandtech article.Yes and no... They've had more than 6 years and I think 2 engine upgrades (which requires re-coding most of the game) to decide. And they received a half million during kickstarter, so money was definitely not an issue. Clearly, they have no interest in UE at all. I imagine they did it because maybe UE has limitations that the devs didn't like and would have effected this game negatively somehow.Yes, but when they started they may not have had that cash, and UE is more expensive than Unity, though Unity can't hold a candle to it either. I was asking if you knoew that they had the cash when they had to make the engine decision. Doesn't matter, I like the game, but it would rock in UE4!
I believe you. I've heard that Windows 10 sucks for games, but I didn't know what the fallback windows was. Thanks.I'm using Windows 7 on all of my computers (and so are my family and friends)... because it's better.

haha, your kidding right? Windows 10 is the best OS yet and 7 isn't even supported anymore which in itself will make it worse.I'm using Windows 7 on all of my computers (and so are my family and friends)... because it's better.

Just for clarification, I never once made a claim that Windows 7 performed better in games, at least not fps-wise or w/e, I just think Windows 7 is better in every other way. Better / simpler interface (and not touchscreen icon nonsense), much less spy junk (none if "custom"), generally better support with games (in terms of stability), though I imagine that won't last much longer, easier to troubleshoot (as with all older OS due to familiarity), no updates to delete your personal files or even forced updates and restarts to get in the way of your life at all.
O/S choice is at least potentially related to the topic...and WIN7 is superior to 10 in so many ways, but the UI is what strikes me the hardest. It's the most bizarre amalgam of the old, the new and the hopeless. Now, it'd be really nice if ppl could stay on topic for once.
