PC MD5 glitch theory

Ok I've been reading these threads about this terrain glitch. I've suffered it numerous times and it really sucks. These preventative fixes etc Dont work as far as I've experienced. Maybe people think they work cos they go another 20 days without a glitch or maybe they work for some people who knows. I play on an Xbox one and I know all too well how upsetting and disheartening they can be but there hasn't been a fix. I love this game I used to play several games alternating between them but after getting into 7 days it's been the only game I've played for about 8 months regardless of this pain in the butt glitch. Anyway to the point of my reasoning, I started this game on a friend's map and we got to about day 130 before we stopped playing on the map because 2 of us were new to the game and the guy running the map was too controlling and rationed everything out in small portions and got upset if we used too many bullets etc. He had 2 forges going. I set up a second map myself to play with my other friend, I started at the pass n gas then moved to the abandoned house west of the farm then eventually built a base west of that again right before the plains Biome which was awesome! About day 160 had a terrain glitch and took out a quarter of my base, I rebuild that quarter and moved forges etc to the opposite corner of the base. I use as least 5 forges to keep things going. At day 180 it glitches again and took out the rest of the base only minutes before hoarde night and that pretty well ruined it for us. I started a second map and kicked off at the pass n gas in the desert Biome again purely because it's right by the river and has yuccas and it's easy to fortify just block off the rooftop entrance and use frame stacking to get up and down. From there I fortified the celltower for a couple weeks while I built a base directly SE from there by the river, I tunnelled down under the river to bedrock til I was on the other side of the river and built my forge room there so my base didn't attract screamers all day. Got my first glitch about day 80 which took out the forge room and the entrance to the tunnel that leads to it, I then dug another tunnel down to bedrock and I headed north about 40 blocks then east about 20 blocks and built a new forge room. About day 170 another glitch which took out that forge room and the entrance to the tunnel leading to it. I dug out the 16 block through to the tunnel that hadn't been glitched and kept looking for my forge room again, I rebuilt further north instead of heading east and on day 187 it glitches the forge room out again and also the entrance to the tunnel. I'm seeing a pretty strong pattern here. The forges at the pass n gas and the cell tower have never glitched I think having too many forges or campfires in one area is too much for the game to spawn in and it loses its ♥♥♥♥. I've just started a new base in diersville on the same map at the pop n pills and I'm gonna set it up the same but with forges im going to set them in pairs across different locations nearby. Far enough to not worry about screamers near my base and also close enough to run back and forth. Setting them in pairs hopefully they will be ok since I've found anywhere I've had 1 to 3 forges that aren't active all the time I've had no terrain glitches. I've also set up outposts to store extra weapons, munitions and supplies along the way so these glitches haven't stopped me.playing this map and I can just go get some more supplies from these outposts, non of which have glitched. Sorry about the long winded example but it seems to be a trend that my forge rooms get attacked and everything else is fine hopefully this works it's not a fix just an educated experiment in trying I'll give it another 50 days I guess and hopefully nothing gets eaten by this bug again! Don't treat these glitches as a game fault as they are just include them as part of the game and manage your gameplay to suit if you love the game as much as I do. I just think of it as an extra challenge as un necessary as it should be. My username on Xbox is flabbiestcub82 if anyone wants to get on my map and have a look and a chat your more than welcome I can talk more about it and I got extra guns and tools and stuff so you won't be empty handed. Only adults though as I'm 37 years old it's not appropriate playing with kids and I do let the old f bomb out now and then 😂 hopefully this is a successful experiment and a way to combat this pain in the ass glitch that has put a big downer on an otherwise awesome game! 👍

Ok that didn't work. Was sorting everything out from the temp boxes into the permanent boxes and got glitched lost everything. Had a crash and respawns on the rooftop I had a feeling something bad may have happened since I was up there. Top of the hospital in diersville if you didn't read the last post. Lucky I've got a couple outposts with materials and resources so I'm fine in this map. The whole section got glitched out and a minibike was in the middle of the glitch and it was the only thing left that we had put there and still had items in the basket. I'm not giving up on this game at I love it so much so im going to hit the wasteland which is for the most part untouched and dismantle every car I find. My friend is going to help as just a spotter and backup as I'm not a huge fan of going there cos you spend more time fighting off dogs than anything else but with my trusty sidekick with his shotgun skills we will be fine! I'm also gonna harvest tyres and raid utility buildings to get wheels and baskets and I'm gonna make about 20 minibikes even if they're poor quality and park them randomly within a short run from the base and use them as storage boxes. Since the minibikes are the only thing that remain when terrain is glitched there's no reason why they can't be used as storage chests immune to the dreaded glitch! I don't know if they need to be complete minibikes or just a chassis with a basket but I'm not taking any chances. I don't care if they're poo level brown and long as they have a basket. The frames and handlebars will be top level as I'm maxed out in mini bike skill level. This idea only came to me today after realising I've never lost a minibike in a terrain glitch. Fingers crossed here's hoping! If this doesn't work i Dont know what else to try. I'll give it a go and I'll park a couple in areas that have glitched several times and Chuck some plant fibres or something in the baskets and when another glitch happens I'll post again with the results! Flabbiestcub82 Xbox if anyone wants to know more.

Thanks zombiehog. Hopefully it works out alright to store the more important stuff like rarer items and resources. Hopefully a frame and basket is enough then all I need to do is hunt down baskets while forging frames. It's a shame they don't have more storage space would be nice if the higher the level basket the more storage it has. It is what it is though. Most items are easily replaceable it's just guns. Ammo. Forged steel. Concrete etc sucks to lose those. Could probably get away with 4 or 5 bikes for the short term.

Pretty sure the bikes will remain intact as I have had several rewrites but never lost a bike since they tagged them. That being said, if you immediately go to your manage game screen and delete the local save whenever you get a crash, you can resync from the could and load the last cloud based save which will be from some point before the "MD5" induced crash and you don't have to worry about losing anything. It is vital that you act immediately and do not reload the game until you delete the local save. This also does not work if you are not connected to the internet. The exact details are in the Forum somewhere.

That being said, at least your character hasn't reset. (A problem that's popped up on PC. Oh, and the MD5 is there as well, far rarer, but it happens.) Of course, everyone knows that the md5 problem is absolutely the fault of Microsoft and the crappy xbox, or perhaps it's them and telltale games. Seriously, this problem was early on identified as a problem in the core program structure having to do with how the game saves. TFP has never acknowledged this as far as I know and I doubt they ever will but the blame for this problem lies squarely on their shoulders.

Thanks for the input and replies to my posts much appreciated. I looked up the work around it takes too much time waiting for Wi-Fi to reconnect and restarting Xbox etc. Once we get into a rhythm I just wanna keep going without upsets so I've been setting up minibikes with baskets and storage. If we get a glitch it's only gonna be part of a base the biggest I've had is 16x16 which if my building supplies are still there it's no problem to fix. Got frames with baskets gonna upgrade them with wheels and seat and handlebars so whenever I want to move one I just have to add engine handlebars and fuel. It's good keeping them half build so we don't jump on the wrong one by mistake 😂 these glitches are actually a bit of a laugh. The last 2 I've had I've just turned them into gardens haha it's like a battle scar 😅 it annoys me a little that they're still selling this game even though it has this problem. Not fair on people that don't know about the issues it has. I'm gonna keep playing it and keep things spread out and vitals in minibike baskets im kind of enjoying the challenge. That being said people shouldn't buy this game unless they understand the issues it has and how to live with them. Probably people starting out are better to join a map of a seasoned player and learn as much as they can and be educated on this problem before starting thier own map so they're prepared for it. On that note if anyone needs a hand and how to get get resources etc are more than welcome to ask for help. I don't want your game ruined by glitches if you love it as much as I do. I'm not an expert but I think I know enough to make the game fun and enjoyable even with the faults that it has.

I've been playing on console for a while now and had never seen the glitch...until about a week ago. I had two other people in my game (girlfriend and gaming friend) and we took over the house that is directly across from the docks on the west side of the map. We were in creative mode and updated the entire house to stainless steel, built a wall, etc.

Game crashed, I logged back in....1/4 of the house was stainless steel....the rest reset. The ground was still the same, 1/4 of the wall was still there. But here is the unusual thing....All the light posts I had created (almost a ring around the house) were perfectly fine. It was almost like only the house and the wall were impacted. All our storage was gone, and such...but 1/4 of the house was still stainless steel, and the rest was back to default.

Was really odd since most people say when this happens, it wipes out the entire area back to default state. It seemed to only do the house back to the state. Grass around was still cut down, trees were still gone, etc.

I've found it only attacks one square I think it's about 16x16 blocks or something around that. It is a real pain. Most of my terrain glitchs have taken out my forge room and also part of the main base. 2 square chunks at a time. Since spreading my forges out around the map but within a short ride I haven't had any problems so far fingers crossed it stays that way. I've got 11 mini bikes 7 of which are pretty much just storage baskets to store important things as in my experiences the terrain glitches Dont wipe out minibikes.
