Map too bright/washed out

So, I posted about this over in PC bugs - not intending for it to be an official bug report because I don't have all the details yet - and the thread got closed. So I'll try here in general support.

My co-op partner (Win10 client playing on my dedicated server, 18.2 b5) says his map is super-bright and hard to read. I do not have the same problem (also a Win10 client, different machine from the server). Schwanz closed the thread with "This is a known issue that will be addressed at a later date. Thanks!" Probably it should be added to the Known Issues list.

Are there any known workarounds we can use in the short term? There was a thread about this in A17 referencing Burning Shaft causing issues, but he doesn't have a BS mod in any of his items. Even if we have to use a workaround every time he starts his game, I think he'd be happier.

Just looking for some community discussion about possible causes/workarounds until TFP can get around to fixing it. Thanks.

 
Tell him to check in your land claim area and also outside of it.. and with his helmet light off.

I saw this issue the other day ONLY when I was at my base and with my helmet light on.

 
I've seen this issue in A18.2 stable on the Mac client as well (single player). I think it's occurred outside of land claim range. I'm less sure if it's occurred without having a helmet light on.

 
Thanks. I don't think he has a helmet light and I'm pretty sure he uses his map all over the place when we're out exploring, but I'll ask him to test things next time he's on.
