Major Lag

Whats up guys, ProblemFinder again

Well recently I was playing on a private cross platform server with my buddy, we got a mission for the Theater in the Winter biome.
We normally clear out areas prior to starting the mission and let me tell you, The game sent us the most amount of zombies it ever has, making the game on both my buddy's xbox and my PC lag extremely bad.
My PC is pretty good, Can run pretty much anything without lag. The game seems to not be optimized for the amount of zombies it throws at you.
Mind you, the fog inside the Theater was also extremely bad so it was hard to see... Usually fog is implimented to limit the graphics quality and render distance in order to make the game run more smooth,,, but buddy let me tell you, I was getting 60 for my highs XD

I have been following this game for years, I remember when the early version of the game had built in lag, but the game has been out for too long for this to be acceptable.

Hope it helps.

Hello ProblemFinder,

Thank you for reaching out to us about your recent experience.

I have reviewed the log provided and didn't notice any clear indicators of in-game lag or performance issues during that session. You can see that the client connects successfully. There are no errors that point to stuttering, desync, or frame drops. With that said, lag can sometimes be caused by factors that are not visible in the client log. Server performance, network conditions, and synchronization delays between players.

Since you mentioned crossplay, occasionally, connection quality and platform networking (things like wired vs wireless) can contribute to latency. While crossplay is supported, differences in network routing or stability between the platforms can sometimes impact the experience.

To investigate this further, could you please provide:

- The server log from the same session
- Approximate timestamp of when the issue occurred to be compared to the client and server logs
- Whether this happens consistently or intermittently

With the server log, we can check for server-side performance, entity load, and/or network delays that may appear in the log.

Let us know when you have that available, and we will take a further look.

Best,
Dollie

This has been something I've been looking into. I can't say anything yet, as the culprit is always something different. But, we're on it. I'll go ahead and move it to WIP.
