Loot Respawning. So has this been fixed or is it the same.

There was a time a while ago that if you had loot respawn say for 7 days and on the 6th day you passed within a certain amount of block of a container (I think it was about 8 blocks) that the respawn timer would revert back to 0 (or 1 whatever) and then would have to wait out the timer again for loot to respawn.
I know I use to use a mod that fixed it but was wondering if it still happens in vanilla game.

I don't think it's considered broken. My understanding is it's to prevent you from living/putting a land claim in a POI with good loot and easily relooting it (since zombies won't respawn) after the loot respawn timer is up.

There is a thing we did in earlier alphas where, if you put an item, say a feather or stone, into the container you're wanting to respawn, wait the appropriate number of days required, it wouldn't matter if you were near or far. Once you allowed the full time to go by, then removed the item, waited a moment then reopened the container, it would repopulate. You could try that and see. The newer containers that break once opened won't ever respawn that way. However, if the container is one that doesn't break, yeah... it should work. Do be aware, however, that YOU set the number of days for respawn. Don't do it early. Give it an extra day to be sure.

That still gives you the new loot if you aren't near the area, but I don't know if it does when you're close enough to cause it to restart the timer. It would be easy enough to test by setting a quick respawn and testing a container at your base, though.

I still do that now in certain poi's that I know I may pass by on my daily runs. I put a piece of fiber in containers and then if I ever check them again after the respawn timer has run out I just remove it, wait a few seconds and open it again. Rinse, repeat.
