Mod Request Linkable (Non-Global) Craft-From-Containers-A-Like

Is this a modification request?

Maybe this is already a thing? I haven't seen something like it yet, but my 2AM brain might just be glossing over pertinents. Not knowing how to make mods or code, don't even know if it's possible, but here's a background-

Beyond Storage 2
Craft from Containers Plus

I've been using Beyond Storage 2 for a month or so, and initially, I really liked it. However, the latest couple updates removed some of my most-liked settings completely (I wanted to disable reloading and block-upgrading from containers and one or two other things) and the author's attitude appears, shall we say... not conducive to alternative desires. I looked a little bit at Craft from Containers Plus, and I may try to configure that more to my liking, but it's still not quite what my near-minimalism mind would consider perfect, so... here I am, with a hypothetical I don't even know is possible:

A system wherein you can craft from nearby containers, but not globally like BS2 and CC+; rather, a much more basic and minimal mod that is only crafting from containers, not using infinite magic access when you're near your boxes, and using a system that 'mimics', in a sense, 7DTD's electrical system, where you manually 'chain' a supply storage into a crafting station, and maybe even link one station into another.

If that doesn't make much sense sorry, here's what I'm picturing: you whip out a stocking clipboard tool or somesuch, that lets you see storage and crafting station 'nodes', similar to electrical stuff. Using the tool, you 'link' three storage crates to 'supply' your workbench; now, that workbench can pull from your personal inventory and those three linked crates. Next to that, let's say you have forge>cement mixer>another workbench; the forge burns cement, the mixer can pull from the forge's output when you open it, and the workbench can pull from the mixer's output (but probably not the forge's? Again, don't know feasibility) to turn cement mix into concrete blocks. In my envisioning, you can't access your container inventories from your backpack crafting, only when you use a linked workbench.

Obviously it's possible to have nearby container contents universally accessed for crafting, the original CraftFromContainers did so - what I'm requesting/seeking, if it's even doable, is something that sort of piggyback-copies a variant of the existing wiring system as a much more controlled way to set what containers can be crafted from by which station.

Beyond my skill (XML, icons, and meshes is the extent of what I've dabbled in) but your suggestion makes sense to me and I like it. That way you could put some stuff in "reserve" storage containers that your workstations can't pull from. A reserve container would meet my needs and I think a bit easier to do because essentially you can add a "reserve" tag to a container and then the DLL skips pulling from any container object that has the "reserve" tag. I hope someone fulfills your request or my watered down version. Also, I love Quickstack, and if these reserved containers were also invisible to Quickstack that could be handy as well. Just a couple of things to consider.

0Score by sphereii, et al, has a craft from containers function which you can configure in the xml. I would look at that and see if it fits your needs.

I believe you can limit it to containers within a LCB and can adjust how upgrading blocks works.

This, I think you're referring to? I'd seen 0-SCore go by before but hadn't looked deeper into it, but now that I have, I may replace BeyondStorage 2 with it; thanks for pointing it out.

It doesn't quite fit my ideal (manually linked storage-to-stations), since it's a global-access approach, but being more basic and less feature-bloated is still good. My current setup is BS2 with a 3-block range and QuickStack, so it's possible SCore's remote crafting could replace both or I may keep QuickStack on top of the auto-sorting box, if compatibility allows.

I wanted to give SCore a shot, I really did, but I got hella console errors with drones, sledges, and vehicles when loading the save with just the basic SCore- not even any of the modlets that enable the features. Seems the author's aware of the issue from other reports, so I might give it another go later on after it's fixed.
