Just for chuckles I did a linear advanced progression for a scenario I am doing with my brother (No traders allowed, no use of workstations -- only what you can craft on on your person). Obviously a loot-heavy situation and a lot of books become useless other than free XP. The concept was to survive 50 days (at 30 minute days, so it was not taking forever), no biome progression, but storms turned on. We would try and survive at least a week and a blood moon in each biome. "Story wise" rescue comes on day 50. Dead is dead, so if either of us dies we need to start over.
So far, doing ok in our current game at day 36, and looking forward to a new world generation with perhaps some tougher parameters (jogging instead of walking?). Used linear advanced generation, for simplicity. First gen the biomes were out order, as was the second generation:

The biomes are out of proper progression order.

- Reproduction Steps
- 1) New World (random gen)
2) Advanced generation
3) Linear biomes
Not sure if the biome percentages are impacting this
