This was the idea @Old Crow

Basic all armors have a special trait but they have light mid and heavy versions.

Ima photos hop the nerd armor as a example later

Oh that is a cool idea, I might try doing something in that style for my custom armors too 🥰
(I made this with AI due to time but)

this is basicly the Idea of it!
their are familys of armor, this is the biker family, light mid and heavy, all have the same buffs for each part (light has a Minor multiplier to make up for lack of armor) and they can be mixed and have a set theme, this one is biker themed

I am fine if this is modded, but I don't think vanilla needs to have every armor in each of the 3 categories.
The way I see it it's more toys in the sandbox. Say you wanna hunt something big and deadly like zombie bears? Wear the Gunslinger armor.

You wanna be lighter weight when Scavenging? Wear Scraper

And for fun! You want your group buddies to be Solders or bikers then you can do that and use the wardrobe system too

I would also make it so you can mix and match but idk if that would be possible via the engine.

I also would change a few other armors

Miner/worker armor
  • Helmet: ore harvest and reduced falling block damage
  • Chest: less stamina usage and more Durability in tools
  • Gloves: more Ore and block damage
  • Boots: increase hp by 2/20 points
Preacher
  • Helmet: increase healing output

Farmer
  • Gloves: increase damage of both melee and ranged by 1/20%

I think it would be good for giving armor a set usesge and theme but having the abilty to have ether light mid or heavy versions.

Wanna be light while mining? Use greenman
Wanna be heavy magnum user: use judge or deputy
Wanna be light when scraping or heavy? So on.

Freedom of choice is a great thing. Even If the models just had a few additional parts to show it's higher or lower then that works too
