Kinda Cheating?

I used Teragon to make my map and it always spits out an image of your new generated world and It shows trader locations. Is it considered cheating to look at these maps to get an Idea of where traders are?

Here is an image of part of my map ant the small red squares are traders.

I know many people who use Teragon. It's not cheating. You have quests that tell you where your next trader is so it's not much different than that. As long as you're happy that's all that matters :)

I guess it depends on your goals. I'll use the 7 Days to Die Map Renderer when playing solo partly because I often want to playtest my creations but also because I reason my character is not a stranger in the region.

Just for reference, you can always choose not to export your map if you don't want to see it. You can also change the color of traders to something that looks like other POI so they don't stand out in the preview.

But whether or not it is cheating to look at the map it's entirely up to you. I avoid it most of the time, though there are times when I do look at it. But that is because I like to find things on my own. I already have a pretty good idea of where things are just from time doesn't making the map anyhow. There are ways around even that, but I don't bother.

The devs fix the base game to patch out exploits that remove portions of the game such as the tower defense. From what I gather they encourage people to mod to their hearts content.
I agree.
TFP changes this, that and the other.
Time to find a mod that undoes changes to this, that and the other.

Joel's said he kinda considers nerdpoling "cheating" and wouldn't mind getting rid of it

The builder part of me hopes, prays, and pleads that this never happens.
That depends on the solution; they're not going to take Building out, that would be silly. And not much else will work, "blueprinting", "land claim only", "no placing while jumping" .. none of these solve the problem of "taking a shortcut", the game has ladders to use instead and land claims are trivial (atm).

So, overall, I think they won't even try; nothing to gain really. Then again they did break arrow slits just because of .. "abuse".

Abuse = "Not playing how the developers want you to"

But in seriousness, the "forcefield" blocks are kinda silly and needed fixing. I only use arrow slits now as "kickstands" for my motorcycle.

Same. It's incredibly helpful while building.

I'd go further than that. Try building a massive castle build without nerdpoling, or try to reach that spot 60 meters above the ground to put in a trim piece or apply a bit of paint to a spot you missed. Try it. You'll want to rip the hair out of your head. lol I doubt it'll ever happen, but if they took out nerdpoling, I'd turn to activating fly mode when I'd build, honestly.

You can build ladders. So...anyway. If anything they should just fix the placement of loot caches to be less accessible to it.

I don't necessarily think people getting some free loot is the same as breaking the zombie AI to make you able to survive with no effort like building underground used to be as an example.

Joel can think what he wants, but he is wrong in the same way he was wrong about smoothies and badges and mythical zombie creatures.
