Jobs at night.

Dunno if this was suggested before, but how about a bulletin board or a computer thing next to the front outside gate of the trader's place, where you can get and turn in your jobs during the night, when the trader is closed and then go see the trader to collect your reward(s) when they open back up in the morning. Thank you.

How about a setting to turn trader closure on and off? (There's a mod to that effect not everyone would want to use, preferring to get their odd jobs direct from the vendor.)

Multiple quests can be taken at once without messing up the rewards system. A mod has done that also, so I'd think multiple odd jobs can be taken and done throughout the night. Either would work, iow, but one wouldn't require a bulletin board or computer.

I'm on PS5 only, so mods won't work for me. The only way i'd be able to get multiple jobs is if I went to 2 or more traders, in which case I currently only have trader Rekt, haven't found any others yet on my 2.6 server.

I'm just saying mods have done this. Exception is, mods didn't require impersonal, virtual bulletin boards or computers to pull it off like, say, Starfield.

I think you're idea is good in general, but doesn't fit the game lore since it's too "techy" in my opinion.

If they just put a traditional bulletin board with job offers written on pieces of paper, then I'd be all for it.
But only if you'd still have to get the reward from the trader in person.

Already said you'd get the reward in person, when they open shop in the morning.

That's funny, cause Starfield will be coming to PS5 soon. Although the way Bethesda has been making games, riddled with so many game crashing bugs in em, namely Fallout New Vegas, I think i'll pass on buying Starfield.

Obsidian produced New Vegas in only 18 months. Quite an accomplishment, if anyone were to ask me, despite its launch state. Perfectly stable today, thanks to the community. Doesn't take much to get it running smoothly, even as relatively old as it is. Haven't played Starfield and probably never will, but am aware of the pick-a-job-from-the-computer thing it has going on. Le sigh.

At any rate, a lot of players want to keep doing odd jobs throughout the night. Personally think the vendors should sleep at some point even if your avatar never can, so also think the "vendors never close" option is weird, but either would work, just better for some than others.

If you still aren't getting the rewards till the morning, what real purpose does turning them in at night serve? Not bashing, just curious what the logic is.

I believe the logic is that, players who want it, can do odd jobs all night even though they could only be turned in to the vendor in the morning. That's the aim of the mods described anyway, e.g. Trader Never Closes. With that, odd jobs can be both run and turned in, of course, but not everyone would want to run it, thinking the vendors should close at some point. (There's another that allows you to take multiple and turn them in all at once without messing up the rewards system.) Thus, I think, SabinSnake's idea of a bulletin board or computer, though many players wouldn't like that either, preferring to get them and turn them in when the trader is open and probably looking askance at the addition of bulletin boards and/or computers. The odd jobs are meaningless, randomized "stuff to do" in the vein of Beth's "radiant quests" anyway, imo. Might as well be picking them off a bulletin board or computer.

For people who like to quest, being able to do more than a single quest all night long, especially if playing 2 hour days, would be beneficial, even if you don't get a reward until morning. You can get more from multiple traders or if you're playing multiplayer where each person has a quest, that also gives you more than one a night, but for solo players who don't want to run all over to get quests from towns that may not be very close together, being able to use a quest board when traders are closed would be useful. I wouldn't use a computer and I wouldn't give rewards except from a trader.

An alternative is just to allow taking multiple quests at once. I'd even consider letting you take all quests at once and then have them expire after a certain amount of time, though I think some people would hate that, especially those who take days to complete a single tier 5 POI. I think why they may not allow this option is to keep total open quests down. With 8 players, if each had 5 quests (7 now), that's a lot of open quests. It wouldn't necessarily hurt anything, but the quest list isn't really designed to "nicely" handle large numbers of open quests.
