Jars - Merry Christmas!

I actually like the new implementation better than the first versions with jars, better than without jars and only a dew collector, and think this is the best version yet. The entire team is pumped about this build.
But are they... water-pumped?
Confident the players will have a Ball®? That 2.5 will be a jarring jolt to the survival experience? That the experience will be pure, rather than murky? This will make a big splash for certain peoples? Perhaps even cool some temperatures? Apiase some desires? Put some clothes on a perhaps previously naked experience? Chuck some jolly Ranchers into the stocking of the holidays? Ensure the silent but deadly aroma of positivity spreads? Reduce some Jeneralization in the survival aspects?

options are always nice and I think it will be a good system. I will play with 0 return on jars because otherwise it negates the need for dew collectors and makes water far too easy to come by later.

I am always willing to try things and see what I think. I'm giving my initial opinion based on what we know, but I'm not someone who locks in on a view without trying it first. I'm open to the possibility that I'll think it's good. We'll see once I try it out. I'm sure I'll post a review of everything after I have time to try all of the changes out. I already posted a detailed view based on the patch notes for every item listed, though that ended up in the 2.x thread since the 2.5 thread wasn't there yet, so it's kind of lost. But I'll post a regular review after trying it in the 2.5 thread for anyone who is interested.

Yeah, when I first try the changes and later, if I choose to use jars and not mod them out, I'll definitely have it set to 0 return. And I won't craft them.

Haven’t seen many mention the water purification mod much. Once you get that and a 🪣, your water problems are gone for good. Not to mention you don't even have to find it, you can purchase it. I've somtimes found that thing on day 1 or 2.

Only for drinking water. That has no impact on water requirements for crafting or cooking. I can't even remember the last time I used that mod. It just isn't really necessary anymore. Maybe that will change with 2.5, but mod space in a helmet is already limited and since they reduced the chance of finding armor magazines if you don't "waste" (my opinion) points in armor, it takes a very long time before you can make a high tier helmet. You're stuck hoping to find a high tier helmet if you want to use many mods in it. And light is always something I start with (once I have it) since I lower brightness in the game.

Last 2 playthroughs I only found the water mod in middle game where I didn't need it anymore. One playthrough I found it relatively early and inserted it but don't think I ever used it because I prefered to drink red tea for its buff and better water value even though I had a little more work that way. Was that a mistake? Was that optimal? Don't know, maybe not. My point is just that I don't regard that mod as really important, it is only useful if you really find it day 1 IMHO. If I get a helm lamp, THAT mod is the one I would insert into my only head slot at that time. Though a friend just mentioned that I could switch between them ;)

Though that could change a bit with 2.5

Oh I'm in hog heaven whenever I find the purified water recipe with the Wasteland Treasures Book. That and unlocking Yukka Juice Smoothies!

If I find one, I usually put it on my trader hat (that I always carry). Then I can drink any lake, but mostly just skip for being permahydrated by Red Tea anyway. But never having to worry about it is nice, I can drink my last drink to make room and not think about it twice.

I hope we use jars to load it or let it build up and collect it later
Ye, the collector is in a weird spot..
If it requires jars, it's less valuable than any puddle. And those are portable.
If it doesn't, it'll generate them (with the no-glass-diet-option). Which might feel weird; then again, non-drink recipes will still delete jars, so it might not be all out of balance.. Maybe.

Probably just mainly pointless in either case.

I'll still have it though

I might, it's low enough in the book set that you can generate quite a few extra glues from them - if you're planning to need some. But at least I won't feel the need to start gathering every piece of plastic scrap on D1. (No idea if/how the recipe changes, but I don't expect to gather any mats specifically for one.)
