Item id sorting

Hi I have a question about the item sorting, as I understand it the game can only have so many items in it. But my question is, if I have 2 mods and lets say they both have an item id of 1255 (random number) and install the mods, does the game automatically change one of them to the next available number and sorts it accordingly?

 
There are no more IDs on items, so this wouldn't be a problem. :)

If two mods try to append an item with the same name though, I think the second one is disregarded and you get a warning in the console that the patch didn't apply or something.
