PC It appears that these new "smart" zombies make defeating them easier on Blood Moon!

it seems they go around spikes, they also know if they cant eat ur brains.. they try another way.

Example.. if i have a pillar connected to a draw bridge, with a ladder on it and im on the inside of the draw bridge, when its open, they will go up the ladder in hopes to enjoy a tasty meal.

BUT.. if i close the draw bridge they dont even try to go up the ladder.

Knowing this info, now makes it easier to force the zombies path on BM, full of traps and creating them to bunch up in a field of fire to kill and gain XP in mass.

Not sure I like this.. too predictable, and not much of a challenge.

Thoughts?

Make a bug report. AI is still being worked on.

Does "draw bridge open" mean draw bridge down (aka passable) or up (unpassable) ? The term "open" seems a bit ambiguous with draw bridges.

The behavior of the zombies has never really been random. It was always predictable though not as complex as it is now.

You can also ignore your knowledge about the zombies, but then you'll be wasting lots of ammo. I've heard that players need about 2000 rounds of ammo per horde because they don't take advantage of the pathfinding.

Draw bridge open, means down. Up is closed. Whether or not the zed can see the draw bridge, he wont go up the ladder if bridge is closed. Thats very smart for a walking dead.

Regarding ammo, yes i go thru about 800 rounds maybe on 300 day old server on blood moon.

Some of us are aware of how to take advantage, and don't want to.

There's a lot about the zombies in 7D2D that I wouldn't necessarily attribute to a walking dead. For example, that they can break through steel walls as if they were made of wood. Intelligence is only one part of a long list.

However, I prefer it a hundred times over if they act purely randomly and still have this high block damage and destruction mode.

This may have been the case in the A16, but in the A17 you can at least count on double or triple the quantity. Especially if they go into destruction mode and you try to keep them from destroying the base.

I know. Ghostlight and his group also decided against it. However, he now has problems making enough ammunition for his group.

Depends on whether you consider me having to mine for 2.5 days solid out of every 7 days a problem. It's all about the Lead.

I'd still rather do that than exploit the AI.

Mining 2.5 days out of 7 sounds.....unfun to put it mildly.

If the options are mine that much or do maze bases then it's back to the drawing board for the fun pimps.

One thing I will say for bases in alpha 17. Theres way more thought and ingenuity to base defense than the alternative of just build a wall.

I have been using the raised maze setup for a month now. Refining it and adding to it. It had way more stragity than any basic wall setup. With that being said its way to powerful now, as it should be. I worked ■■■■■■■ it and now its op.

Time to move onto something different.

Couldn't say it better. For the first time I used a vector drawing program (inkscape to be exact) to design a base in A17
