Is there any chance of the game somewhat going back to its roots?

I just made this account after seeing the new storms brewing update. It looks like a great update, especially with the new zombies, new variants and the food textures and animations, thats very well done. However one of the things that I noticed and wanted to speak about is the biome system. I played console 7 days to die so I was stuck in the old version for years. I miss the metal block upgrades and the clothing from the old game, it added so much more personality into the game and I dont see why it was removed. I dont mind the rpg aspect of the game even though the trader is very op now. The clothing is the main things that I miss and my friends do too. I remember the battles over "worn boots". the drippiest clothing item in the apocalypse 😂

A lot of those old systems were removed for optimization, and to correct issues either in game balance or in broken mechanics. Like wet concrete that would never finish drying.

The new biome progression will be a toggle-able option. If you want to play the classic style without the biome locks, you simply flip a switch in your settings.

Clothing system was removed as it was primarily tied to the weather system which got removed, and also a very broken system in regards to how it displayed on the player. With the armor getting a full revamp, that system was removed completely to be re-written to meet the new system and to correct the issues with mesh overlap. With 2.0 the system is returning, though it looks like it will be merely visual, and will not have the temperature bonuses like before.

Yeah, things like clothing and the extra block upgrades won't be coming back. If you are on Steam, you can play older versions of the game if you want that nostalgic look at the game. If you are on PC, there are probably mods that bring those back, or something similar, though I haven't looked since I like the new stuff more. If you are on console, unfortunately you are stuck with the way they have chosen to make the game.

I still have the old Tell Tale version installed and go back occasionally to play it to compare the two. Fun stuff.
