Is there a way to allow me to paint bullet proof glass?

Glass has some unique shapes (the curved corners primarily) so I'm using it to create a little pill box like structure that has the thin walls of the glass.

Problem is: I want to paint the lower level and upper level, and leave a thin strip of glass in the middle ... but you can't paint glass?

I thought editing the xml would do the trick, but don't see WHERE to edit, or even if it works that way.

Any way to allow painting of glass?

well, i was working on a painting mod and had this question too, if i figure it out, i'll let you know.

Nope.

Anything with a mesh can't be painted; basically only "New" shapes (see the shape property in the block XML) can be painted.
