Is there a hotkey for block alignment?

I find that most of my time building is wasted left clicking, as I try to orient blocks to a specific alignment. Are there any hotkeys or shortcuts? It is frustrating to click and click, and it gets to the right alignment, and then I click again and have to start all over.

 
It'd be really nice if in advanced rotation the wheel would rotate the face inplace with the left click reorienting the face, right now you have to do four left clicks per side and then the game re-rotates the plate when you place it anyway.

 
Yah, that's a good idea - the mouse wheel needs to be able to rotate.

I switch between advanced rotation and face rotation a lot. I would be great to have x and y rotations as separate keys. Would save so much time.
