We started a fresh server yesterday and played until the morning of day 7. I hit L15 today and still can't take enough points in intelligence to unlock the first level of hammer and forge so we can start on some stronger defenses. I'm liking the new skill tree so far, but at this point in an a16 server (halfway through the second week), we would have had a forge to at least start making metal bars and the like.
Our first hoard night, they broke and followed a single path through the spikes, broke down the door, and were in our base inside 3 minutes. Not complaining, I like the new difficulty and the AI is awesome. But, the level gating on some stuff either needs work or progression needs to be quicker. We didn't stand a chance like at all. Normally that comes down to ammo on a first hoard, not really base defense.
But at this point in the experimental, I would settle for a breakdown of the skill tree (mostly available in the WIKI, I've noticed) and at what character level/skill level the skills unlock. It will help me figure out what skils to take now and what to save points for later, or at least how screwed I am in the interim.
I'll add that I love that the game is hard again and actually kinda terrifying.
