Is it just me or do animal corpses now smell?

I'm walking along the road, hunting, and shoot a rabbit. Then one of the zombies suddenly starts running and runs straight towards the rabbit's corpse. It stops next to it and starts eating it. When I shot the rabbit, the zombie was quite a distance away.

Zombies have attacked corpses before, but that only happened when the corpse was close to them and they didn't run toward it, but walked at their normal pace. In the last update, did corpses also develop a smell?

Fresh kills attract zombies from farther away per the patch notes so if you kill an animal you want to make sure to harvest it quick before it's devoured by the walking dead.

wish devs also add animal predators eating animals with special animation, hunting them, dragging their corpses to safe place, imitating food chain and etc!

Sounds neat but also sounds like a lot of development time for something purely aesthetic
