PC Is it just me or are the vehicles slow now?

Are there any mods that speed them up? Apart from the storage its barely faster then walking for the minibike. I can actually drink a mega crush and outrun a motorized vehicle....

Yea the motorcycle is barely faster than a bicycle now. Thankfully I think we can still edit the speeds in the xml files, which we plan on doing because this just seems silly.

Vehicles don't care for encumberment and (aside from the bicycle) don't drain your stamina (both factors are especially important, if you are out in the night). As you already mentioned, they also bring storage with them. Just put your non stackable and/or rare stuff in them and keep common stackable stuff in your inventory. You can easily loot 2-4 times (depending on the vehicle) as many buildings in one run, instead of walking back after each building or even multiple times per building. That's a huge timesaver. It would even be a timesaver, if vehicles were a bit slower than walking.

IF that's going to be the logic then there should be a type of vehicle with no storage that is significantly faster then walking. But the slow speeds combined with the ability to not be able to navigate slopes often makes vehicles far slower then just drinking a beer and running.

Now if there are mod's like a turbo charger that increase speed, performance tirers to let them go up hills better, etc then its a different story.

Bicycle and minibike go 10 m/s with turbo, motorcycle is 14 m/s. 4x4 is prob 13 m/s or so.

Speed wise minibike is just a bicycle with 3 times the storage. I am more upset about the vehicles lack of ability to climb small hills more than anything else. Unsure about the 4x4 but the bicycle, minibike and motorcycle can't climb a small hill to save your life, which REALLY hurts in a18 with how hilly everywhere is.

A19 has vehicle mods planned, the current vehicles have the slots for mods but none are currently in the game. I can imagine a few types: Gas tank, Speed, Hill climbing ability, increased storage space, maybe a armor mod to give them more health.. not that they need it really but there just to be there.

Hopefully a +1 passenger seat mod for the motorcycle (and have it debuff speed). An Offroad Axle/Tires mod for making going up hills easier. Spikes for more damage to zeds. A RollingCoal mod for massive heat generation so you can summon screamers if you want.

It sounded like MadMole wanted vehicle durability to go down with wear and tear in addition to current damage taken by running over/into things. So maybe some mods to reduce that effect may be introduced?

A19 is supposed to be vehicle mods, I'd say that's where the speed increase will come in, what we have no are "base" vehicles.

Like the introduction of the primitive bow, you have to slow things down in order to speed things up. :)

...get us used to the new slower speed (which also helps performance), so when mods are introduced they feel like a benefit, but all they've really done is give us back what we once had.
