PC is 17.4 the last patch before a18?

Most likely. There is no current plan to do a 17.5 but anything is possible. A18 is the next planned update.

 
would be wierd sins they talk about alpha 18 after 17.4 xD logically .1.2.3 is minor updates in the alpha 17, so skipping to 18 means overhaul imo atleast how i think.

I have been playing since Alpha 6 and every integer has been a significant feature addition or significant change/overhaul and the .0 sub-version has just been smoothing out the rough edges from the the feature additions.

At least that is my perspective
