Installing prefabs in existing game

Could someone supply me with a detailed step by step guid to loading prefab into game. I have the new 1.4(b8) I am 60 yrs old not stupid just old. Thank you and please advise.

If you mean to put a Prefab into an existing world, then the World Editor that came with the game is what you want. It has quirks, such as there's something weird about placement rotation. I don't use it very often so I'm not the one to give you steps. There's probably a YouTube video from somebody that covers it.

If you mean to have RWG place the POI when you build a world, I know more about that. There's several things to know about rigging the POI to get RWG to use it. The Prefab Editor is the key to this preparation.

In both cases, getting the POI into the right place (LocalPrefabs folder or a modlet) is the first step.

Which way are you interested in? Did you get this POI from somewhere or did you make it? If I knew which POI, I could make sure it wasn't for an old version of the game, or some player export.

Oh, Welcome to the Forums.

I want to add POI from nexus.. I was able to get a test game and I fumbled through placing and turning the mod. Hower I applied changes and hit save. When I went to find game it wasn't in my lineup for selecting that game come to think I don't remember it asking for a name. Also where I really want to place some mods in would be in existing game. I will get the names of the POIs I want like Bathurst 1 and 2 it is the track and there wher a couple of races and 2 houses and a few castles.

Bathurst? That's Fluffy Panda and those POIs are special. I believe they have to be manually placed to get them to join together, so that's going to mean the World Editor, so I have some idea of what you're after.

I'll point out that I know Fluffy Panda is around on Discord. I mentioned this thread to him.

I'm not well versed on the World Editor. Could you have been editing a map that isn't yet in a game? I'm not sure if that's a thing. Just guessing.

Hi, if you go into world editor in the game, you can press 'Z' on the ground to make a blue box appear,
then press k and click dynamic prefabs

Type the name and click place
Hold down G to move using the axis arrows
X will rotate 90 degrees
Click 'apply' once your happy
(it may appear to be facing the wrong rotation direction after you click this but if you load back in it will be right)
Press Escape and Click Save in the top left to save your world and your done

Just to add to what has been said, when you open World Editor (not POI Editor), you would load an existing map that you made.  Take note of that map name before starting the World Editor as that will be the map name you'll use when starting a new world afterwards.  Then go in and add the POI wherever you want as FluffyPanda showed.  You usually have to Save and exit the World Editor and then load the World Editor again and rotate it to the right direction and Save again for it to be rotated correctly as was pointed out.  That's a long standing bug in the World Editor.  Once you've done that, start a new game using that same map name you used in World Editor and the POI will be on the map.
