Individual game settings might explain some points of view.

Rotor

Hunter
I know this been done before, but it has been a while.

Here are mine:

  1. Adventurer.
  2. Loot no respawn.
  3. Loot 100%
  4. Chunks dont reset.
  5. Zombies walk all the time.
  6. Z's 25% block damage.
  7. 100% XP
  8. 1.5 hrs days
  9. 6 hrs night time
  10. Resupplies are on every 3rd day.
  11. 7day Bloodmoon
MODs
  1. Zombies NoRespawn
  2. ZZ's PoI pack
Other Mods I add as they become available, that I havent had time to hunt down:
  1. No Cop Puke
    1. Going to look for others that may remove the superrads, etc.
  2. Z's No reach
  3. Headshot only when I feel like really turning up the heat a bit.
  4. wondering hordes.
  5. A few others that are mainly cosmetics
Self imposed restrictions
  1. I dont quest. However, I do use the traders as an anti RnG mechanic, although when I have to is because I am a dead end, and really hate to do it, almost feel defeated.
  2. Dead is dead.

Adventurer - Mostly because I don't like bullet sponge zombies
60 Minute Days
18 Hour Days (sometimes 16 Hour Days)
Jars: 100%
XP: 100%
Loot: 100%

Mods:
Farming - I put the "plant once" farming back. The "mini-game" Vanilla farming is fine; I just don't want to spend the time managing it.

Food - Max Cooking lets me make Canned Food.
Example - Canned Beef : 1 Grilled Meat + 1 Bone + 1 Aloe + 1 Potassium Nitrate + 1 Empty Jar

Lockpicks - I bump up their effectiveness some.

Playtest XP - I make it such that each level gives 2 Skill Points. I do this because when I was working on my POI mod I would restart games a lot and never see the late game. Lately, work has me so busy that I like it because I just don't get to play as frequently.

ZZTong-Prefabs - Well, yeh. I've got to test those.

ZZTong-RWG - I like to make the Old West settlement a couple of Tiles bigger to get a little more variety from it.

Traders - I make the Traders restock daily. This is both an advantage and a disadvantage. I add quality 1 and 2 Solar Cells as a possible inventory item.

Vehicles - I make them 3x more durable.

Water - I give boiled water a 5% Dysentery chance and I change Pure Mineral Water such that it can only be made at a Chem Station.

Self imposed restrictions
  1. I don't use the traders for much of anything other than selling items for Dukes that I can smelt into brass.
  2. I don't use POI's for bases.
IMHO, the Vanilla game gives hardly any challenge aside from the lacking inventory space. Really hating the hard limit on bloodmoons atm as well.

  1. Warrior (good for the first week, gets a little too easy later on)
  2. 60 min
  3. Minimum Jog (cba waiting for zeds I want to lure somewhere)
  4. Largely defaults otherwise
No mods. I largely grind quests, make a couple improvised horde bases until I settle down in wasteland week 4 or 5. Play a couple hordes there and quit.

Multicloned vultures default plus two size variants insta attack that
vary timing attack patterns. See above

After each of the initial weapons is maxed I will pick another, one at a time.
Armor light medium, focused on stealth and zombie kill. All else is sold.

Present Task save 7.5 additional k for crucible, trader 8km away. I got 2 days

I'm not sure how different playstyles will explain points of view* on the game's systems. I don't think they're mere preferences, but neither do I think they're mutually exclusive. That's what "versus" actually means: same but different, in a sense, as opposed to mutually exclusive. More like Yin and Yang than the predominant and competitive "against." (East and West have more in common than Kipling seemed to think.) The new water collection system is a good case in point. Either/or logic may rule the day, but there's no rule it has to do so in perpetuity.

*Few, if any, will be interested, but I highly recommend Jean Gebser's insights on "points of view" (aka perspectivism and its origins) in the creative, artistic sense of the word. His good buddy, Picasso, created aperspectival artworks and Gebser noted the emergence of the aperspectival and synairesis in the arts and sciences of his and our times. Highly instructive, especially to artists, I must say.

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” ~ Pablo Picasso

You don't think Insane Difficulty, 30 min days (or 120 if you want the Long), Block Damage 300% gives a different impression of the horde nights compared to default settings?
The default player might love his cobblestone cube -base, but the adjusted settings make it a completely pointless waste of time. The entire building system will feel quite different, even fill completely different roles. Any oddities in the combat systems become life threatening, etc.

I.e. for me, nothing is super abundant. I dont swim in ammo. Probably has to do with my loot settings.

So I always see those kinds of post as "if you have my settings maybe you wont swim in ammo" if you dont quest you wont have your cycle in the first 7Days, etc. Those are just a few examples.

So from my PoV I do see things somewhat different with my play style.

I changed the xml to increase how many wasteland traders there can be from 4 maximum to 20 maximum to let me get t6 infested quests faster
I also removed the changes to stun baton this patch so i don't send them flying every hit when using nerd tats.

Self imposed:
Quests must be done in the biomes where traders sends you. Tier 1 forest, Tier 2 Burnt...
Once quest tier completion is achieved you must move to the next biome by end of day. Unless its horde night in which case can move the day after. No further quests allowed in the biome once completed and you cannot leave the biome to do quests outside it.
