In the v 2.0 exp, after clicking continue game, the red text in the attached image appears after a while and the game does not start.

The situation is that biome badge 3 has been acquired.
I ended the game after 10pm on the 16th, getting off my
bicycle in the snowy town.

You will need to include a log for anyone to have a chance of helping. That is a very generic error message, but the log would give the details of what it means.

I am getting the same error. Apologies, I missed this one before I started another report. They said they were working on it already, but here is the link to my post, which has my log attached.

Not sure if this has been reported at all, sorry if this is a duplicate. I did look for it, but didn't see anyone else with this issue.

I updated to the latest experimental this morning and played for an hour or so just fine, no bugs or issues starting up the game. I logged off for a few hours, and when I attempted to start up the game again, I got this error message: RPC Connect error: -4058 (rpc_manager.cpp:39). It was on the initializing world screen.

I tried starting the game twice, but it just sits on this screen and repeatedly throws this error. Not sure why I'm getting this now...
 
had a same issue but Found a way to get back into my saved world following another person post which worked for me there were few side affects like the time turned back to day 1 [you can change it in console] and every item being crafted and smelted in forge etc got a time lag so just cancel and start crafting smelting again.

Navigate to: C:\Users<your username>\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Saves<map name><save name> (the error message should give you the exact path as well).
Copy the <save name> folder to your desktop or somewhere else. (you're making a backup just in case)
Create a new game on that same map and remember the save name, I'll refer to this as <new save name>, then quit the game.
Navigate to: C:\Users<your username>\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Saves<map name><new save name> and copy both the main.ttw and main.ttw.bak to the C:\Users<your username>\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Saves<map name><save name> folder. You will be told that "The destination has 2 files with the same names", click on "Replace the files in the destination" button.
Run 7DTD and try to continue your game.
