PC In search of "forge ahead"

Hello everyone!
My name is Nick, and I've come to complain ( >:( )
My progress is currently day 15 and level 19, but I can't move forward. I suffer with a Wooden bow, a bone knife, and stone tools.
You ask me: Why?
It's very simple...
I don't come across any "Forge ahead" books at all. I don't even have a forge. I have read a lot of information inside the game and on various forums (including Reddit, communication with AI, etc.)
I have not received any clear answer to the question: "How to increase the chance of getting this ill-fated book?"
It's not written inside the game at all that any skills increase the chance. My development is literally frozen because of this and I do not know what to do. Help...

And also it looks like Lockpicking still does, as it did in 1.0, but the in game description doesn't mention it anymore, so not sure if it's not supposed to in 2.0 or if they just forgot to add that to its description.

Also, look for broken workstations like forges and cement mixers, like at the traders and at construction sites. They aren't that hard to find.

Yeah, that can help, but you don't necessarily need it. I rarely take that perk. Focus on the workstations you find in the world, especially the cement mixer and forges as bdubyah mentioned. The other workstations can have it as well, but seem to have a lower chance. You can usually find them at the traders, and if you watch for anything that looks like it's under construction, you'll often find cement mixers and workbenches. Workbenches are also often found in garages. Finding enough for a forge should be easy to do by day 2 at the latest if you are looking in the right places.

Loot construction POI's, hardware stores, stuff like that. You will find plenty. Don't forget book stores, and as Riamus stated, garages and ba🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬ts.

If you look at the top of the magazine set you want, it tells you what boosts it.

One of the first four points I get at the beginning goes into advanced engineering. I always find two when I go to the first trader. By the end of that day I generally have one point in daring adventurer. That helps too. Sometimes I'll sometimes get the forge on day one. I'll get it almost always by day two and the work bench by day three. I also put one point into grease monkey, that ensures you'll get the mini bike by the time you need to go see Bob. This is on normal loot chances

That shouldn't impact finding any magazines unless they changed it. It should only give you more dukes and double quest rewards once maxed.

Oh I think it helps. It's in the int tree. I can't prove it

But I can

<passive_effect name="TraderStage" operation="base_add" level="1,5" value="10,50"/>
<passive_effect name="QuestBonusItemReward" operation="perc_add" level="1,5" value=".05,.25"/> <!-- Bonus Dukes -->
<passive_effect name="QuestRewardChoiceCount" operation="base_add" level="5" value="1"/>

No effect on finding books

geez, some people just want to believe things help, even if they don't. ever think about that???? LMAO

Then why am I finding so many when the only point that matters is one in engineering?

Does lockpick help?
They are almost guaranteed without any points in certain containers, like cement mixers and forges. Some magazines are just always easy to find. For example, cooking magazines are very easy to find. Others, can be harder and so having points in a perk that increases them is useful.

I know lockpicking used to help. I haven't looked to see if that changed anything. I never put points into engineering or lockpicking and find the magazines easily.

Look at the image I posted earlier. Lockpicking helps, but only up to level 15. Once you have read 15 magazines, it is not boosted from lockpicking anymore.

I feel like you have to actively avoid broken workstations and any source of magazines to not have a forge on day 15.

Also, I feel like level 19 is very low for that amount of days.
