PC Impossible day 7 horde

Hello everybody, i'm coming to you coz me and my friend played a game on 1.4 version, and we had demolishers and irradiated zombies at the 1st horde (day 7). We were based in burnt forest with approximately game stage 50 each. we gave up that game and tried to come back on an older version of the game, and we exactly had the same issue at the same place with the same game stage (burnt forest/ game stage 50/55). Is it a bug or is it me who does not understand something? We play in warrior difficulty, i dont think the problem comes from there since i already played in warrior on my last games  and never saw any irradiated or demolishers before several weeks...

You should probably do your first horde night in the forest, though I think that's too early to see demolishers even in the burnt forest at that game stage.  But it isn't likely a bug as that would affect enough people that there would already be reports about it.  If you're using any mods, they may be causing the issue.  Changing certain game settings can also cause higher tier zombies to appear sooner, such as raising the number of zombies for horde night (anything over 30 gives you harder zombies instead of more zombies).  Even increasing XP gain can cause you to see harder zombies more quickly.

What @Riamus said.  Plus there is an additional game stage modifier(?) When you have more than 1 person, each additional person adds a portion of their gamestage to to hoard.

i put horde zombies spawn at max (64) but its supposed to make them more numerous, not turn them into super warriors of apocalypse, such a weird balanced option... ty for the fast replies, i'll try to fix that by change this option 1st... ^^

First demo is listed at gamestage 147; you're not far off, at least, probably normal.

Couple things to note, the "base" party GS is all the party members added together (although with reductions on each member added, something like 50% less each member).

So, 55+50 is something like 80.

Biome will ramp that up by "some". Not sure of deets, but going from forest at 44 into burnt pushed my GS up to 78 (version 1.4b8) - that's a lot. But it's also shown in the UI, so if you checked it IN the burnt biome, then it won't have extra effect.

And if you have max zeds for the horde set above 30, the game caps your number at 30, and instead multiplies your gamestage from there. So, if you were supposed to get 45 zeds at once, you'd get a x1.5.

The combined effect may have nudged you past 147.

yeah but ou game stage were at 50 in the burnt forest, since if i'm not wrong its automatically synchronized in the menu based on where you are... so our game stage was 50, not higher...

its probably coming from the max zed spawn i guess, still very weird anyway xD

Theres a big difference between have more zombies and have zombies that literally destroy your base in a blink of an eye cos you only have sticks and rocks to defend yourself xD

so our game stage was 50, not higher
Yeh, to get from 55+50 to 147 with maxalive alone, you would've needed a maxalive of ~55. That's at horde stage 174, but I honestly don't know how it is counted (increased GS raises maxalive, which should raise horde stage, which would raise maxalive, which would ... which sounds like a bad time for mathing 😃 )

Oh wait, there's also that "hidden" multiplier of 1.2, called difficultyBonus, but not affected by anything. That would take your 80 to 96, and the required maxalive down to 46, which is also reached at GS 147. Gonna take some weird mathering, but I'm sure TFP can get us there ... :D

Never yee mind, maxalive is per player - from the related xml files :

// maxAlive (optional, default 1) - The max that can be alive at any time per player

So, each of you having "solo maxalive" of 23 is reached already at GS 69.

They changed that... in 1.3 IIRC.  Anything over 30 makes them harder and caps them at 30.  It's supposed to improve performance without making the horde night any harder or easier, though that's debatable.  I think most people would rather it be an option again to have 64, but that's how it is now.

oh ok! my bad then, i think the option purpose isnt well explained, maybe they didnt changed the explaination of it in the menu... just checked and its not clear in french version at least... TY! i hope i can play a normal game now ^^ ty ty!

Yeah, they didn't change the description.  It is definitely not clear.

Something doesn't add up...

Recently I was surprised to see like dozen of Demolishers during the horde night in Single player in the Forest biome.

My Gamestage was just ~105. I expected so many Demolishers to appear only at GS 170-180

That sounds odd indeed; but also "possible" - I think you can technically have every zombie be of the same type, as long as the RNG keeps picking the same one over and over again. Shouldn't happen, but hasn't been made impossible.

105 would give you a maxalive of 33, so a 10% increase in GS from there, and the 1.2 multi; still only 138. But it's not the first time I'm not taking something into account :)

I assume you weren't using mods or extra camera accounts or any of that sort? If not, TFP might be interested in your log as a bug report.

This would be so much easier to deal with if we could just get our true gamestage displayed right in the "i" menu. Who needs a value displayed that doesn´t say anything about it´s actual value?

Probably the same situation... check your game settings to see what you have for max zombies.  If it's over 30, it's boosting the zombies above what your gamestage is.
